Blade Runner Lore: The Blade Runner Expanded Universe
This category collects the Blade Runner expanded universe on AvP Central, from Philip K. Dick's 1968 novel through Ridley Scott's film and later stories. Dick's book is set in dusty San Francisco in January 1992, where bounty hunter Rick Deckard retires escaped Nexus-6 androids and tends an electric sheep. The 1982 film moved that hunt to neon Los Angeles, dropped Mercerism and the electric animals, and gave the street Cityspeak the book never used. K. W. Jeter's 1995 sequel continues that film in August 2020, not Dick's San Francisco day. Later books follow Deckard through Replicant Night and close the authorized line with Eye and Talon. The novels sit together as Blade Runner Books, an authorized alternate sequel line that Blade Runner 2049 later contradicted.
Blade Runner 4: Eye and Talon is K. W. Jeter's 2000 close to the authorized film sequels. Blade runner Iris Knaught hunts Scrappy the owl through monsoon Los Angeles, then follows Rick Deckard and a child named Rachael under stars that do not match Earth.
