Blade Runner Replicants: Nexus Models and Their Fates

A replicant is a bioengineered human, built rather than born, and made to do the dangerous and degrading work of the off-world colonies. In Ridley Scott's 1982 film, the Tyrell Corporation's Nexus-6 models were stronger and faster than their makers, and were given a four-year lifespan to keep them from developing emotions of their own. After a bloody off-world mutiny, replicants were declared illegal on Earth, and special police units of blade runners were ordered to hunt down and retire any that came back. Decades later, in Blade Runner 2049, the Wallace Corporation took over the trade with obedient new Nexus lines, while older models still lived in hiding. Some of them fought for more life, some for freedom, and some ended up hunting their own kind. Their stories sit alongside the wider Blade Runner characters of the series.
