Replicant Designers: The Makers Behind The Nexus Models
Behind every replicant stood a maker. In Ridley Scott's 1982 film, the Tyrell Corporation ruled the trade from its pyramid in Los Angeles, but the bodies it sold were pieced together by a whole network of genetic designers and engineers, some working in the company's own labs and others in cramped shops out on the street. They gave the Nexus models their strength, their eyes and their four-year lifespans, and more than one of them paid for it when the creations came back looking for answers. These profiles follow the people who designed and built replicants, alongside the Blade Runner replicants they made.
Eldon Tyrell founded the Tyrell Corporation and built the Nexus replicants in Blade Runner, made Rachael an experiment with his niece's memories, and was killed in his candlelit penthouse by Roy Batty, the prodigal son who came asking for more life.

Hannibal Chew was the genetic designer who made replicant eyes for the Tyrell Corporation in Blade Runner, played by James Hong. In November 2019, Roy Batty and Leon broke into his freezing lab, took his coat, and forced him to send them to J. F. Sebastian.
