Blade Runner: Black Lotus: Las Vegas: Comic Overview
Blade Runner: Black Lotus: Las Vegas is a four-issue Titan Comics series written by Nancy A. Collins and drawn by Jesús Hervás, published from September 2025 to March 2026. A direct sequel to Blade Runner: Black Lotus: Leaving L.A., it followed the replicant Elle into the irradiated ruins of Las Vegas, where the replicants who once staffed the casinos ruled as Egyptian queens and Roman emperors. Behind her came the Doll Squad, a capture team sent by Niander Wallace Jr. to bring her back from the Blade Runner: Black Lotus anime's Los Angeles, dead or alive.
The Story
Summoned To Wallace Corp
In Los Angeles in 2032, the Wallace Corporation executive Menzes was summoned to the company's headquarters. An assistant named Ms. Tyler met him in the atrium and escorted him to her employer's office. Menzes was surprised that Niander Wallace Jr. was already out of hospital, since Niander had been blinded in his last confrontation with Elle. Ms. Tyler explained that Niander had declined ocular surgery and chosen to remain blind. In his office, Niander told Menzes that he was disappointed by the failure to recapture Elle and that he had ordered Ms. Tyler to form a capture team, called the Doll Squad, to bring her back.
Niander warned Menzes that this was his last chance, and that he would either bring back Elle's head or surrender his own. The team was built around people who had a reason to hunt Elle. Kozlov, the former head of security at the fracking plant, had lost his job and his cousin because of her, and the off-world mercenary Kate Marlow wanted revenge for her brother. Menzes and his aide Tatsuo were assigned to the squad, together with two replicant security agents, Mr. Smith and Mr. Brown. The last member was the former blade runner Alani Davis, the only human known to have survived an encounter with Elle.
Recruiting Davis
Davis had been left partially paralyzed after her encounter with Elle and was living at home with her wife. Menzes and Tatsuo visited her and offered her a place on the Doll Squad. In return, the Wallace Corporation would pay for surgery to restore her mobility and give Davis and her wife passage to the off-world colony of their choice. Davis accepted, and Ms. Tyler arranged for a surgical team to operate on her within the hour. Niander also ordered his staff to stake out the Death Valley spa, where Elle had first gained consciousness during the Doll Hunt, expecting the place to draw her back.
After the operation, Davis recovered in a wheelchair at the Wallace Corporation facility. Her doctor would normally have kept her for several weeks, but the company wanted her released at once. Davis thanked the medical staff and was taken to meet the rest of the squad. Menzes introduced her to Mr. Smith, Mr. Brown, Kozlov and Marlow, and explained that the team had arrived just in time, because Elle had been sighted near the spa. The squad then left Los Angeles for the desert in a Wallace Corporation craft.
Memories In The Sand
Elle was riding her spinner bike through the desert near the place where her life as a replicant had begun. Her few memories were her only link to her past, and she had returned to the region to learn more about them. The last of her rations had run out a day earlier. Nearby, a gang of desert scavengers attacked an autonomous high-speed land convoy, using an electronic device to disable its security system before boarding it. Their leader, a large white-bearded man, told his followers that they would eat well that night.
Crossing the desert, Elle reached the place where her earliest real memories had formed, rather than the false ones implanted to keep her docile. The memories of fear, and later of anger, returned so strongly that she had to stop and hold her head. That night Elle approached the scavengers' camp, hoping to steal food and learn more about where she had been created. From cover, she listened as the scavengers argued over whether replicants or the Earth Firsters had detonated the dirty bomb that left Las Vegas abandoned.
Ambush By The Campfire
One of the scavengers struck Elle from behind and dragged her into the firelight. The gang's leader treated her as a trespasser and an easy target, without realizing that she was a replicant. Before the situation went further, the camp came under fire from a line of helmeted mercenaries employed by Brekker Solutions, the company that protected the land train the scavengers had robbed. The scavengers recognized the Brekker mercenaries and tried to flee, while several of them were shot down around the fire. Elle used the confusion to break away from her captors, ran through the darkness to her spinner bike and escaped before the mercenaries reached her.
The Brekker crew rounded up the surviving scavengers, including their leader, and held them at the camp. Elle rode on through the night toward Las Vegas, which the scavengers had described as a dead city full of abandoned hotels and which radiation kept most humans away from. Neither the scavengers nor the mercenaries knew that the woman at the fire was the replicant the Wallace Corporation was hunting. The mercenaries later learned of the bounty on Elle and became rivals of the Doll Squad.
Wallace Claims Death Valley
Twenty minutes later, a Wallace Corporation craft carrying the Doll Squad landed at the scavengers' camp in Death Valley. The Brekker commander objected that this was a Brekker Solutions operation and that the Wallace Corporation had no jurisdiction there. Menzes replied that the corporation owned the Death Valley spa and all of the surrounding land, and that the security system had been triggered on company property. He then asked whether the mercenaries had seen a young woman with a lotus tattoo. The scavenger leader admitted that his men had caught such a woman that night, but she had escaped when the Brekker attack began.
Wallace troopers took the captured scavengers into custody. Menzes concluded that Elle was heading for Las Vegas, because the higher radiation levels there would keep pursuers away from her. Kozlov agreed, and the team prepared to leave. When a Wallace trooper reported that the prisoners were ready for transport to Los Angeles, he was told that the plan had changed and that the team was going to Las Vegas instead. The squad first flew to a former luxury spa that the elder Wallace had acquired with the Tyrell Corporation's holdings, where they collected decontamination gear, radiation monitors, anti-radiation tablets and replicant-grade ammunition.
Ruins Of Sin City
At dawn Elle rode past the faded Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign and into the city. She had never seen anything like it before, and it reminded her of fairy tales she only partly remembered. Sand had drifted through the streets and against the abandoned hotels and casinos. Among them stood a pyramid, a sphinx and an obelisk, which gave the impression that the city had been built by an ancient civilization rather than by modern developers. The city appeared deserted, and there was no sign of the people who had once filled it.
Elle wondered who had built such structures and why, and she rode deeper into the city. At its center she found a large palace with terraced levels overgrown with plants, the only building in the area that showed signs of life. She left the bike at the foot of the steps and climbed toward the entrance on foot. The great doors opened as she approached and revealed a brightly lit interior. Waiting inside was a woman dressed as an Egyptian queen, who welcomed Elle to Paradise.
Welcome To Paradise
At the top of the stairs stood two queens, Cleopatra and Nefertiti, with their guards. They welcomed Elle as a little sister and noted that she had entered Paradise of her own free will, which only a replicant would do. Before letting her in, Cleopatra asked whether she was a real girl, and Elle replied that she was as real as they wanted her to be. The queens then dismissed their guards and led Elle into the casino's gardens. They explained that Las Vegas had once been North America's largest embarkation point for the off-world colonies, and that Paradise had been the grandest of its pleasure palaces.
Paradise had been built as a desert oasis where wealthy guests enjoyed real food from the casino's vertical gardens before leaving Earth for good. Its staff were replicants playing ancient Egyptians and Romans for the guests. When the dirty bomb was detonated, the human owners died or fled, and the city was left to the replicants who survived the blast. Cleopatra and Nefertiti emerged from the wreckage and found themselves free of human control for the first time. Paradise was one of the few casinos left intact, thanks to its solar-powered electrical grid and water filtration system, and the two queens led their followers there to found a new kingdom.
The Pax Vegas
The queens told Elle that they had been challenged first by King Nebuchadnezzar and his army, the replicants of another casino, and had defeated them. Their victory was followed by a new threat from the replicants who had played the Roman Empire, led by Julius Caesar. Rather than fight another war, the queens allied with the Romans, reasoning that humans already wanted all replicants dead. Under the truce, known as the Pax Vegas, the Egyptian queens and the Roman kings shared the resources of Paradise, while human servants tended its gardens and maintained the machinery. The replicants defended the city against human intruders who came to loot the casinos.
Caesar arrived with Caligula, Nero and his legionaries to inspect the newcomer. After examining Elle and finding no serial number, he declared that she was human and ordered his guards to take her to the arena. Elle defeated the guards within seconds and explained that she had been designed for combat, not for greeting tourists. She told the court that she had not been made by the Tyrell Corporation but by Niander Wallace, who had created the synthetic food that saved humanity from a famine and was now working on a new breed of replicant slaves. Her account persuaded the Romans and the queens that she was a replicant.
The Doll Squad
Aboard a Wallace transport, the Doll Squad prepared for the search in Las Vegas. While the soldiers checked their equipment, they discussed who had set off the bomb in the city. One soldier had heard that a rival East Coast megacity was responsible, while another blamed the Earth Firsters, and the talk turned to whether Earth should be abandoned along with everyone unwilling or unable to emigrate off-world. Davis asked Marlow why she had come back to Earth if she considered it doomed. Marlow replied that she had returned for money and for revenge on Elle, who had killed her brother.
Davis pointed out that Niander had directly benefited from Elle's killing spree, because it had helped him take control of the Wallace Corporation. She suggested that he shared the blame for the death of Marlow's brother. Marlow said that she would deal with that after she had been paid. Davis also told the team that Niander could not afford to have his connection to Elle made public, and that this was why he wanted her captured or killed. When the transport landed, Menzes ordered the squad to move out into the ruins.
The Brekker Ambush
Forty-three minutes and 120 miles later, the Doll Squad was ambushed by the Brekker mercenaries, who had followed them to Las Vegas in pursuit of the bounty. Mr. Smith and Mr. Brown were killed in the fighting, and Tatsuo pulled the wounded Menzes to cover. The Brekker commander, who held the high ground, offered to let the team return to Los Angeles if Menzes told Wallace that the Black Lotus bounty belonged to Brekker Solutions. Menzes refused, and Kozlov complained that he had signed up to hunt a replicant, not to fight in a turf war. Kozlov then tried to surrender to the mercenaries and was shot dead.
Marlow and Davis fired back at the Brekker crew, and Marlow commented that Kozlov had been the weakest member of the team. With the squad pinned down, Marlow offered to draw the mercenaries' fire so that Davis could reach a nearby hotel. Davis ran across the open ground and jumped from a ledge into the building, testing her repaired body, and was knocked unconscious as she landed. When she came round, she was lying at the feet of a squad of replicants dressed as Roman legionaries, whose centurion announced that Caesar would have another prisoner for the arena.
A Princess Of Egypt
In Paradise, Elle was bathed and dressed in white linen and gold jewelry, as befitted her new rank. She was disturbed to learn that the women serving her were humans and that the queens regarded them as slaves. When she asked about her spinner bike, the queens told her that she no longer needed it, because no one left Paradise once they had entered it. They also told her that she would marry one of the three Roman kings to seal the alliance between the two houses. The queens assigned Elle a human servant named Vanna, who escorted the new princess to her rooms.
Vanna told Elle that she had come to Las Vegas from Los Angeles with her boyfriend Pascal and her brother Everett. They had heard that the casino vaults were still full of cash and judged the radiation worth the risk. Caesar's men had ambushed them, killing Pascal and capturing Vanna and Everett. Vanna had been made a body servant to Cleopatra, while Everett had been sentenced to the arena, and she had never seen him again. She told Elle that she preferred to die in Las Vegas rather than starve in Los Angeles, and Elle realized that her only way out of the city was to find her bike.
The Search Continues
Elsewhere in the ruins, Menzes reported to the Wallace Corporation that the Doll Squad had lost half its members. He explained that Smith, Brown and Kozlov had been killed by the Brekker mercenaries, that Davis was missing and that he had been wounded himself. He also told his superiors that Brekker Solutions had tracked Elle to Las Vegas and wanted the bounty for itself. Menzes asked for reinforcements and evacuation, but the company refused and told him to complete the mission. After the call, Menzes ordered Marlow and Tatsuo to continue the hunt on their own while he stayed behind in case Davis returned.
In Paradise, Elle continued to observe how the replicants treated their human servants. The replicants had been created by humans to perform dangerous or degrading work, and now the roles had been reversed. Elle noticed that the queens expected the humans to be grateful for being allowed to live. The queens prepared Elle for her court debut and told her that an event was being held in her honor, where she would be introduced to their subjects and to those of the Romans. They warned her that not every replicant in the city had sworn allegiance to the two houses.
Games In The Colosseum
The queens told Elle about the Semita, a group of radical replicants who worshipped the technology that had created them. The Semita lived in the old sewers and tunnels beneath the city and rarely came to the surface. Their hatred of humans extended to replicants who imitated human culture, and they refused to recognize the Pax Vegas. The queens described the Semita as their sworn enemies, but assured Elle that she was safe within the walls of Paradise. They then led her to the Roman Colosseum, an arena the Romans had built inside the Sphere, one of the old Las Vegas venues.
Caesar welcomed Elle to the royal box, where she was seated in the place of honor between the queens and the Roman kings. He raised his goblet and ordered the games to begin before a large crowd of replicant spectators. The day's entertainment consisted of human prisoners, all of whom had come to the city to steal from the replicants, who were sent into the arena with real weapons to face wild animals. Among the prisoners, Elle recognized Davis, the blade runner who had previously hunted her in Los Angeles. Elle remembered that Davis had once offered to protect her if she testified about Niander's crimes.
Release The Animals
At Caesar's command a lion was released on the prisoners. The beast was an animoid, one of the artificial animals that had largely replaced living species in the Blade Runner setting. Elle asked Caesar to stop the killing, but he refused and Cleopatra told her not to condemn the replicants for copying human cruelty. As the prisoners were killed, Davis was left alone in the arena with a trident. Elle jumped from the royal box into the arena, still in her linen and gold, refusing to watch others die in her name. She fought the animoid with her bare hands, broke its neck and helped Davis to her feet.
The crowd and the royal box were stunned by the intervention. Elle told Davis that they should leave immediately, and Davis, who did not understand why Elle was in Las Vegas, asked what she was doing there. Elle answered that it was a long story. Caesar ordered his guards to seize the human-loving traitor, and a large group of Roman soldiers surrounded the two women in the arena. Davis thanked Elle for saving her but observed that they had only exchanged one danger for another.
Sentenced To Death
By saving a human prisoner in front of the crowd, Elle had embarrassed both Caesar and the queens who had sponsored her. Cleopatra accused Elle of disgracing them after everything they had done for her, reminding her that they had taken her in and made her a princess. Standing beside Caesar in the royal box, Cleopatra declared that Princess Elle had betrayed the royal house of Las Vegas and that the penalty was death. The Roman soldiers closed in on Elle and Davis with swords and spears. The sentence was intended to be carried out immediately in the arena.
Spectators in the stands cheered the condemnation of the replicant who had sided with a human. Some of them dismissed the Roman soldiers as hospitality models who could not fight, while others pointed out that they were still replicants and Davis was only human. Davis prepared to defend herself with the trident she had been given for the games, while Elle took a weapon from one of the soldiers. Neither woman expected help from anyone in the arena. The situation changed when the alliance between the queens and the Romans began to break apart in the royal box.
The Truce Breaks
Elle and Davis fought off the soldiers sent to seize them, with Elle disarming several legionaries and Davis holding off others with her trident. In the royal box, Caesar blamed the queens for bringing the runaway replicant into Paradise and complained that he had warned them about her. Cleopatra reminded him that Paradise belonged to the queens and that the Romans were only guests. Caesar replied that the queens could not hold the casino without the might of the Roman Empire and struck Cleopatra. Nefertiti stabbed Caesar in response, and the Praetorian guards turned to defend their emperor.
Cleopatra raised the bloodied blade and called on the sons and daughters of Egypt to rise, declaring that the Pax Vegas was over. The Egyptians and Romans began fighting throughout the arena and the stands. In the confusion, the animal pens were opened, and an elephant, tigers, bears and a panther were released among the combatants. The replicants of Paradise turned on one another, ending years of peaceful coexistence. The fighting spread from the arena into the rest of the casino, which caught fire.
Through The Old Sewers
During the fighting, Vanna appeared at one of the arena gates and called Elle and Davis to follow her. She said she knew where to find the people who had taken Elle's bike and led the two women into a service tunnel. When Davis asked why she was helping them, Vanna said that she was helping Elle and not Davis because Elle was a better person than anyone she knew. The casinos had built the tunnels for delivery vehicles, and they ran on top of the old sewer system where the city's homeless had once sheltered from the heat.
Vanna explained that the tunnels led to the city's underbelly, where the Semita ruled and the queens had no authority. She warned that the Semita had the bike and would not give it back easily, then returned to Paradise, believing the Semita would kill her. Walking on, Davis admitted that she had been sent by the Wallace Corporation, in exchange for her mobility and off-world passage. Elle explained that Niander had manipulated her into believing she loved him, gave her the Black Lotus tattoo, wiped her memory and released her into the Doll Hunt. He had then used her to kill the people standing between him and control of the company.
A Fork In The Road
The tunnels divided beneath a graffiti sign that marked an exit to the street. Davis asked Elle why she had saved her in the arena and why she had not killed her when she had the chance in Los Angeles. Elle replied that she had seen enough brutality from humans and replicants alike, and that although she had been created to kill, no one had asked her whether she wanted to. Her earliest memories were of cruelty, but she refused to believe killing was her only purpose. Davis then asked whether Elle would let her go, and Elle answered that she would.
Elle then knocked Davis unconscious and left her near the exit, where the Doll Squad was likely to find her. In the meantime, Marlow and Tatsuo had tracked down and killed the remaining Brekker mercenaries in the ruins. Soon afterward they were surrounded by a Roman patrol, whose centurion declared them captives of the Vegas empire and fresh meat for the arena. Before the Romans could take them away, a messenger arrived with news that Paradise was burning, and the legionaries left to join the fighting. Menzes rejoined Marlow and Tatsuo, and the team concluded that the burning casino might lead them to Elle.
The Doll Squad Regroups
The surviving members of the Doll Squad advanced carefully through the ruins toward the burning casino. The replicants were distracted by the fighting but would soon be looking for intruders. On the way they found Davis, who had regained consciousness and made her way to the surface. Davis told them that replicants dressed as Romans had captured her and that she had managed to escape. She did not mention that she had seen Elle or that Elle had saved her life in the arena.
Davis did say that she had overheard some of the replicants talking about a newcomer who had arrived in the city on a spinner bike. The information confirmed that Elle was in Las Vegas, but it gave the team no clue to her current location. The team considered that Elle might have been inside the burning casino, in which case they might never find her. Menzes, Marlow, Tatsuo and Davis remained in the ruins to continue the search. The Wallace Corporation had still not sent reinforcements, and the squad that had left Los Angeles with seven members now had four.
Beneath Las Vegas
Having escaped everyone who wanted to control her, Elle went deeper into the tunnels to find her bike and leave Las Vegas. Alone again, she cared only about recovering the bike and leaving the city. She suspected that the Semita were not as dangerous as the queens had claimed. As she ran through the tunnels, she was struck by an electrified net that brought her down and left her unable to move. A group of masked and hooded figures examined her, and one of them concluded that she was alive and therefore could not be human.
When Elle regained consciousness, she demanded that her captors give back her bike. The masked figures identified themselves as the Semita, the replicants of the city's underbelly, and asked whether she was the rebel who had grown tired of the queens' hospitality. Elle made it clear that she had no loyalty to the queens. The Semita leader welcomed Elle to the underbelly as a friend, but she remained caught in the net and surrounded by armed members of the group. The series ended with Elle in the hands of the Semita, and with an announcement that Black Lotus would return.

Behind The Scenes
Titan Comics published the series with Alcon Publishing as the second comic continuation of the anime, following Leaving L.A. The four issues went on sale on 17 September, 15 October and 17 December 2025 and on 4 March 2026. Nancy A. Collins returned as writer, with Jesús Hervás on art, Marco Lesko on colors, Jim Campbell on lettering and David Leach as editor. The setting looked ahead to Blade Runner 2049, whose irradiated Las Vegas had been left empty by a dirty bomb.
Each issue carried several covers. The A covers were by Kael Ngu for issue 1, DaNi for issue 2, Claudia Caranfa for issue 3 and Raymond Gay for issue 4, and Hervás drew further variants. Titan collected the series on 4 August 2026 as Blade Runner Black Lotus: Las Vegas, a 112-page paperback with a Hervás cover, alongside a direct market edition with Ngu's cover. Each issue included a recap of the story so far and a gallery of its covers.
The story picks up from Leaving L.A., bringing back Kozlov, Menzes and Tatsuo, and from the Black Lotus anime, where Davis first crossed paths with Elle. On the Blade Runner timeline, the comic falls in 2032. Its version of Las Vegas, abandoned after a dirty bomb and filled with sand and radiation, is the same city that appears in Blade Runner 2049, set seventeen years later. The story also returns to the Doll Hunt in Death Valley, where Elle first gained consciousness in the anime. It was one of several Blade Runner comics published by Titan, and its final issue announced that Black Lotus would return.
Closing Thoughts
Blade Runner: Black Lotus: Las Vegas moved Elle from the desert setting of Leaving L.A. to the ruins of Las Vegas, where replicants originally built to entertain wealthy guests ruled the city and kept humans as slaves. Elle was offered a position among the replicant rulers of Paradise but lost it after she saved Davis, the blade runner sent to capture her. She escaped the war between the Egyptian and Roman replicants and was then captured by the Semita, while the Doll Squad remained in the city searching for her.
