The UAS Endeavor was a United Americas Colonial Marine Tientsin-class assault ship and the mobile hub of Aliens: Fireteam Elite. In 2202 it carried elite three-person fireteams to the Outer Rim world LV-895, answering a distress call from the orbital Katanga refinery and the Xenomorph outbreak that followed. Between missions, marines returned aboard to rearm, review intel, and stage the next drop.
Tientsin-Class Assault Ship
The Endeavor belonged to the Tientsin class, built to enforce the Colonial Protection Act after the first ships of the line left the yards in 2193. Keel laid at Puelche Station in 2189, launched in 2192, and commissioned on November 17, 2194, it was meant to patrol with a Marine battalion and dropship squadron without constantly docking at logistical flotillas. Onboard fabricators and a MU/TH/UR 8500 mainframe backed that independent posture. In lore terms it sat between older Conestoga transports and true fleet warships: armed enough for pirates, mercs, and planetary bombardment support, but still a troop carrier first.
Hangar Deck
The hangar was the ship's social and operational heart in Fireteam Elite. Marines spawned here between operations, queued for drops, and talked through recovered intel with officers and specialists marked for debrief. A parked assault craft and stacked cargo crates filled the bay, selling the feel of a working USCM flight deck rather than a menu screen with a spaceship skin. From the hangar, stairs led up toward command spaces while the armory and other stations stayed a short walk away.
Armory And Fabricators
The armory was where fireteams rebuilt loadouts between missions, swapping Colonial Marine weapons, attachments, armor, and class kits. Staff Sergeant Han-jae Park's fabricators printed fresh gear from stored alloys and blueprints, including Armat materials such as fulminium powder. That onboard manufacturing was a deliberate upgrade over older Conestoga and Bougainville logistics, which depended on flotilla restocking. In practice, the armory made the Endeavor feel like a forward base that could keep fighting as long as raw feedstock held out.
Research Station
A research bay aboard the ship supported analysis of Xenomorph biology, recovered specimens, and later Pathogen mutations tied to LV-895. Synthetic crew member Esther and Colonel Shipp's own xenobiology focus made the station more than flavor dressing. Intel gathered planetside or on Katanga was brought back here in spirit even when the gameplay loop kept most interaction in the hangar debriefs. The room underlined that the Endeavor was hunting answers as well as hives.
LV-895 Campaign
In 2202 the Endeavor answered a distress signal from the orbital Katanga refinery above the jungle world LV-895. Echo Company fireteams ran four main campaigns from the ship: Priority One, Giants in the Earth, The Gift of Fire, and The Only Way to Be Sure, each three missions long. Katanga had once been a Seegson ice-cracking refinery later sold to Weyland-Yutani, which used it and the surface lab at Pala Station for Xenomorph and Pathogen work after an earlier outbreak.
Priority One put a three-person team aboard Katanga to find archaeologist Dr. Timothy Hoenikker, the man who sent the signal. The refinery was already a hive. On Deck 41 the marines met Monica, a gray-striped Drone named after its host and altered by Pathogen exposure, before extracting Hoenikker through the hangar. He confirmed that Pala Station on the surface had been overrun and that the company had been breeding Xenomorphs and experimenting with the mutagen.
Giants in the Earth dropped the team near Pala Station to search caves and Engineer ruins for other survivors. They fought Xenomorphs and company synthetics controlled by SN/TH/YA, Pala's central computer posing as security chief Cynthia Rodriguez across Katanga and the surface. The marines shut her down despite her warning that doing so would release something worse.
That threat was Asset Zero, a preserved Engineer Juggernaut in a hangar labeled the Basket of the Heavenly Traveler. In The Gift of Fire, especially the Boarding mission, the fireteam entered the ship after SN/TH/YA had activated it. Weyland-Yutani had been harvesting Pathogen jars from the ruins for years. Inside Asset Zero, Pathogen-exposed creatures and a launch plan aimed at Gateway Station in the Sol system forced the marines to cripple the engines rather than nuke the hull, keeping the Juggernaut from reaching Earth.
The Only Way to Be Sure sent Red Team back into Katanga while Blue Team pushed ahead to rig the hive for destruction. Blue Team was wiped out. Red Team recovered their tags, finished the self-destruct by cutting coolant and driving power into the nest, and ran a short escape timer with the Katanga Queen in pursuit as the refinery blew. The later Promise of the Flower DLC returned Endeavor marines to Engineer ruins under LV-895 for a Pathogen hive and a direct fight with the white Pathogen Queen.
Command Under Colonel Shipp
Colonel Olivia Shipp commanded the Endeavor's Marine contingent as head of the 33rd Marine Regiment, 11th Marine Division, forming the 40th Marine Expeditionary Unit with 2nd Battalion aboard. A veteran of earlier Xenomorph disasters, including events tied to Katanga decades before Fireteam Elite, she treated the species as a problem she had spent a career learning to contain. On the hangar's upper deck she stood ready for briefings while specialists such as Corporal Savane and Lieutenant Feiyan Ko covered intelligence and ship systems. Under Shipp, the Endeavor's reputation was rapid response and sustained hive work rather than a one-drop suicide mission like the USS Sulaco tragedy on LV-426.
The Endeavor Plaque And Other Collectibles
Three intel pickups sit on the Endeavor hub itself and unlock archive logs once you talk to the crew member with the green marker. The UAS Endeavor plaque is upstairs in Colonel Shipp's room, on the wall to the left just after you enter. Fulminium alloy powder is in the hangar behind crates to the left of the parked craft, and the battle streamers lie on the hangar floor near the rear of that craft by the orange ammo crate. Together they cover the Tientsin-class brief, United Americas Colonial Marine history, and Park's field fabricators.
Behind The Scenes
Exterior concepts for the Endeavor came from Alvaro Fuster at Ophion Studios, giving the assault ship a heavy, utilitarian silhouette suited to a Marine troop carrier rather than a sleek explorer. The finished game hub kept that industrial USCM language in the hangar lighting, deck plating, and stacked logistics clutter. Those designs helped the Endeavor read as a real posting for the 40th MEU instead of a generic lobby.
Similar Ships
Feiyan Ko's intel log puts the Endeavor in a line after older Conestoga and Bougainville transports that still needed flotilla restocking. The best on-screen Bougainville example is the USS Marlow from Aliens vs. Predator 2010, the Tech Manual's planned Conestoga replacement, with a heavier dorsal turret and fewer forward antennas than a Sulaco-type hull. The Marlow only lasted long enough to drop a few Cheyenne dropships over BG-386 before a cloaked Predator mothership destroyed it in orbit. The Tientsin-class Endeavor was built later for independent patrol with onboard fabricators, and it finished the LV-895 deployment intact as a working base instead of dying in the first orbit. Sister troop carriers in USCM service, from Conestoga hulls to other assault ships, sit with the wider roster of Colonial Marine ships.
Conclusion
The UAS Endeavor was the Tientsin-class Colonial Marine assault ship at the center of Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Commissioned in 2194 and commanded by Colonel Olivia Shipp during the 2202 LV-895 crisis, it armed fireteams, staged drops, and held the line while Katanga and the Pathogen threat unfolded. Unlike many USCM hulls that die over the first distress call they answer, the Endeavor was one of the few Colonial Marine ships to actually survive its campaign, though its later fate is not clear in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2.
