Weyland Family Tree: Every Known Relative Explained

By | Published March 09, 2026

The Weyland family are the powerful owners of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation together with the Yutani family. Beginning with the industrialists Charles Bishop Weyland and Peter Weyland in the early 21st century, the family builds one of the most influential corporations in human history. Over time, the Weyland legacy became intertwined with synthetic technology, leading to androids modeled after members of the family itself. In this article, we examine the Weyland family tree and list every known member of the family, including Peter Weyland and Charles Bishop Weyland. We also explore later descendants and synthetics connected to the Weyland lineage.

Peter Weyland

Old man Peter Weyland from Prometheus

Peter Weyland was one of the most famous members of the Weyland family and the founder of Weyland Corporation. A visionary technology entrepreneur, Weyland built his company into a dominant force in robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced scientific research. Under his leadership, Weyland Industries pioneered early synthetic technology and became one of the most powerful mega corporations in the world. A very old Peter Weyland secretly went on the Prometheus mission and was killed by an awakened Engineer on LV-223. Peter Weyland's influence extended far beyond his lifetime, as the corporation he founded eventually evolved into the powerful Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

Meredith Vickers

Meredith Vickers from Prometheus

Meredith Vickers was a high-ranking executive within Weyland Industries and served as a senior representative of the company's interests during the Prometheus expedition. She was the estranged daughter of Peter Weyland, but still acted as a key corporate authority. Vickers was known for her strict professionalism, calculated decision-making, and unwavering loyalty to the company. Like her father, Meredith Vickers was killed on LV-223 during the Prometheus mission. She was among one of the final survivors, but was killed when an Engineer Juggernaut ship rolled over her.

Jacob Vickers

Jacob Vickers was a later descendant of the Weyland family, appearing in the Aliens: Vasquez book. He was identified as the great-great-grandson of Peter Weyland and the great-grandson of Meredith Vickers. Like many members of the dynasty, Jacob became involved in corporate leadership and eventually served as the CEO of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. His position demonstrated how the Weyland lineage remained tied to the corporation's leadership across generations. However, he did not use the powerful "Weyland" name, but kept using Vickers, like his great-grandmother.

Charles Bishop Weyland

Charles Bishop Weyland from Alien vs. Predator 2004

Charles Bishop Weyland from Alien vs. Predator (2004) was one of the earliest known members of the family and the founder of Weyland Industries in the early 21st century. He is somewhat in conflict with Peter Weyland from Prometheus, as both are supposed to be the founders of the Weyland Corporation (or Weyland Industries). Ridley Scott chose to ignore the AvP movies, but in-universe, it could be explained that Charles Bishop Weyland was the father of Peter Weyland. Despite suffering from terminal cancer, Mr. Weyland headed an expedition to Antarctica which led to the discovery of an ancient pyramid connected to the hunts of the Young Blood Yautja. Weyland ultimately died during the expedition, killed by Scar Predator.

Mr. Weyland

Weyland from Predator: Concrete Jungle

In the Predator: Concrete Jungle video game, a corporate figure known simply as Weyland appeared during the early years of the company (specifically in 2030). This Weyland was a senior director involved in corporate acquisitions and industrial expansion. He headed the creation of the MOTHER computer, which would later be used as starship AI on ships such as the USCSS Nostromo. In 2030 he oversaw the purchase of Borgia Industries after the deaths of its previous leadership. Although little was revealed about his personal history, it can be theorized that he was the brother of either Charles Bishop Weyland or Peter Weyland.

Michael Bishop (Bishop II)

Michael Bishop (Bishop II) from Alien 3 with a damaged ear

Michael Bishop, sometimes referred to as Bishop II, was a human executive connected to Weyland-Yutani. He appeared during the events of Alien 3 and represented the corporation's interests in recovering the Xenomorph specimen from Ellen Ripley. His appearance closely resembled the Bishop android from Aliens, which created confusion about whether he was human or synthetic. Bishop claimed to be the human designer behind the Bishop android model line, while bleeding red blood. In the movie's credits he was just referred to as Bishop II, but expanded universe material identified him as Michael Bishop. Because he looked exactly like Charles Bishop Weyland, he could have been a coincidentally similar descendant, a genetic construct, or a clone of the company's founder.

Michael Weyland

Michael Weyland from Aliens: Colonial Marines

Michael Weyland was a Weyland-Yutani employee connected to later corporate operations involving Xenomorph research, appearing in the controversial Aliens: Colonial Marines. A synthetic duplicate of Michael Bishop (but named Michael Weyland for some reason) was created to serve as a body double and interrogator during corporate operations on LV-426. The synthetic was ultimately destroyed by Colonial Marines (including Cpl. Dwayne Hicks) after attempting to manipulate and kill them. In the end, a Colonial Marine affiliated Bishop android extracted data from him, while the real Michael Bishop escaped.

Karl Bishop Weyland

Karl Bishop Weyland from Aliens vs. Predator 2010

Karl Bishop Weyland was a synthetic who served as a senior director for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, appearing as the main villain in the Aliens vs. Predator 2010 video game. Despite being an android, he often presented himself as a human and claimed to be a direct descendant of Charles Bishop Weyland. Karl oversaw a research facility on the planet BG-386 where scientists studied Xenomorph biology and Yautja technology. During the events of the game, Karl's actions triggered a catastrophic outbreak of Xenomorphs. He was ultimately killed by the Colonial Marine known as Rookie.

Bishop Line Androids

The Weyland legacy also influenced the creation of the Bishop series of androids. These synthetics were modeled after the likeness of Charles Bishop Weyland and later appeared throughout Weyland-Yutani operations. The most famous example was Bishop, the android who assisted the Colonial Marines during the events of Aliens. These androids were designed to be more trustworthy and reliable than earlier synthetic models. The Bishop line became one of the most recognizable synthetic series produced by Hyperdyne Systems, another important corporation in the Alien universe.

David (Synthetic)

David from the beginning of Alien: Covenant

David was the first advanced android created by Weyland Industries and personally commissioned by Peter Weyland. Designed as part of the company's synthetic program, David possessed highly advanced artificial intelligence and human-like behavior. Peter Weyland referred to David as the "closest thing to a son that I'll ever have," highlighting the unusual relationship between creator and machine. David served aboard the Prometheus expedition in 2093 and secretly carried out Weyland's orders to investigate the mysterious Engineers. Over time, his experiments with alien pathogens and genetic engineering led him down a darker path and ultimately to the hijacking of the USCSS Covenant. Although not a biological member of the Weyland family, David represented a different kind of legacy.

Conclusion

The Weyland family tree spanned multiple centuries and played a central role in the history of Weyland-Yutani. The exact lineage is sometimes complicated by conflicting timelines between the Alien and Predator franchises. Although the company dissolved during the 23rd century in the Alien timeline, it successfully returned after the events of Alien: Resurrection, as seen in Predator: Badlands. However, it is not known whether the Weyland family still controlled the corporation at that point, or what role the Yutani family played.
