The Engineer hybrids were human-Engineer creatures built by Dr. Lily Pearce at Storr's Boon in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. Pearce had been exposed to Acidium, a gas she made from Xenomorph acid, and she used a dead Engineer plus more than a hundred colonists to try to cure herself. Most subjects did not survive, and the few that lived were kept frozen until Fireteam Banshee killed about a dozen in 2207.
The Dead Engineer & Pearce's Experiments
Miners at Storr's Boon on LV-558 broke into a buried Engineer ship set into the canyon behind the colony. The wreck held a dead Engineer, later stood up in a vapor-filled tank in the company lab. Dr. Lily Pearce was exposed to Acidium, the gas she had made from Xenomorph acid, and the exposure left her in pain. She used that body with human DNA from more than a hundred colonists to try to cure herself. Most of those people died. Pearce kept the work from Weyland-Yutani once the company moved to take it.
Engineer Hybrid Appearance
The survivors came out changed: pale or red-ribbed, with an elongated head, a skeletal face, sunken eyes, no outer nose, claws, and feet that bent like an animal's. They had the ribbed look of an Engineer suit, but they stood shorter than the Engineers they were copied from. Pearce kept that small group frozen in stasis so the company could not take the work, and one finished hybrid lay on a lab table while she stood over it.
Attack In The Engineer Ship
During Ancient Anomaly, Fireteam Banshee and Fireteam Chimaera fought the hybrids inside the buried Engineer hull. A ship mechanism killed most of them. The survivors then attacked the fireteam, coming in with the pathogen creatures rather than against them. About a dozen hybrids were in that rush. They were strong and hard to kill, and they did not share the elemental weakness of those other mutants. General Olivia Shipp treated them as a high threat.
Killed By Fireteam Banshee
Fireteam Banshee used a mechanism on the Engineer ship that killed most of the hybrids still in stasis. The survivors came out and attacked. The fireteam then killed about a dozen of those remaining creatures after Shipp ordered them destroyed. The hybrids also attack with the pathogen creatures in Horde mode. Similarities To The Offspring
The hybrids used the same human and Engineer mix as the Offspring from Alien: Romulus. Both stood taller than a human, with pale ribbed skin and an Engineer face instead of a Xenomorph skull. Pearce left Xenomorph DNA out, so her creatures had no tail, no inner jaw, and no acid-filled egg. Kay's child was a three-way mix born from Z-01, while Pearce's hybrids came from Engineer tissue, human colonists, and the pathogen. They were the third Engineer-shaped hybrid after Elden and the Offspring.
Conclusion
The Engineer hybrids were Dr. Lily Pearce's human-Engineer creatures at Storr's Boon, made from a dead Engineer and more than a hundred colonists after Acidium left her in pain.
