Scarface Predator: Profile Of The Concrete Jungle Yautja
Scarface was a legendary Yautja hunter whose life became defined by disgrace, exile, and eventual redemption. He first arrived on Earth in 1930 during a hunt in New Way City and returned a century later to Neonopolis, where stolen Predator technology had transformed the criminal underworld. Appearing in the Predator: Concrete Jungle video game (not related to the comic with the same name), Scarface was known for his scarred face and brutal methods.
The "Scarface" Predator
Scarface (also known as the "New Way Devil") was a member of the Dark Blade Clan and stood out for both his immense size and his battle-worn appearance. He earned his nickname after a human gunshot badly injured his left eye during his first mission on Earth, leaving a deep scar and an empty socket that became his signature feature. In his youth he had been skilled and aggressive, but his decision to reveal himself to humans and lose advanced equipment resulted in severe punishment. His clan stripped him of his Blooded status and forced him to seek redemption through the most dangerous hunts imaginable.
The New Way City Hunt
In 1930, Scarface arrived in New Way City to hunt Bruno Borgia, a gangster who had built a powerful criminal empire. Scarface eliminated Borgia’s guards and lieutenants before facing Bruno directly, decapitating him in an up-close fight. His moment of triumph became his downfall when he removed his mask to display the trophy to Bruno’s wife Isabella, and their infant son, Hunter. Isabella fired a weapon that struck Scarface in the left eye, damaging it permanently. His Yautja ship was then sabotaged, his equipment lost, and he narrowly survived a self-destruct blast, which destroyed the center of the city. His clan did not forgive the failure and sentenced him to exile.
Losing And Eye And Exile
The loss of his left eye marked Scarface for life. After the New Way City disaster, the clan stripped him of his rank and sent him to a deadly alien world as punishment. There, he survived with only basic Yautja weapons while battling hostile wildlife and harsh terrain. His scarred face and missing eye remained visible symbols of the price he paid for breaking Yautja protocol. This exile mirrored the life of the Hive Wars Predator, a Yautja who was stranded for years on Xenomorph Prime.
Hunting Gangs In Neonopolis
One hundred years later, the Dark Blade Clan offered Scarface a final chance to restore his honor. He was sent to Earth once again, this time to Neonopolis (a new name for New Way City) where gangs and corporations had stolen and reverse-engineered Predator equipment. Scarface began his mission by targeting Les Serviteurs, a gang using Predator cloaking tech. He eliminated their leadership, reclaimed stolen gear, and sent a warning that Yautja technology would not remain in human hands. He continued dismantling criminal factions, including the Matadores and the remnants of organized crime families that controlled the city (some even using stolen mech-suits).
Fight Against Monster Squad
During his campaign, Scarface came into conflict with the Monster Squad, a mercenary unit equipped with cybernetic enhancements and advanced weaponry. These soldiers were employed by Lucretia Borgia, the daughter of Isabella and the sister of Hunter Borgia. Scarface slaughtered several of their members but was eventually overwhelmed and captured. He escaped confinement, killed his captors, and became determined to take down the whole Borgia Corporation (a rival of the Weyland Corporation). During his escape, he even briefly encountered Xenomorphs, held by the Borgian's AI computer MOTHER.
Taking Down Stone Heart Predator
Scarface’s most personal battles in Neonopolis came when he confronted three captured Yautja who had been experimented on and turned into heavily augmented cybernetic enforcers. These were Long Spear, Swift Knife, and their leader, Stone Heart, who had been transformed into towering and barely controllable monsters. Scarface fought them one by one, killing Long Spear and Swift Knife in brutal single combat. His final duel with Stone Heart was the most difficult, since Stone Heart had undergone extreme physical modifications and fought with relentless fury. Scarface ultimately defeated him in a prolonged and violent clash, ending the suffering of his corrupted clan brothers and reclaiming their honor through their deaths.
Fight With Hunter Borgia
Scarface’s mission eventually led him to Hunter Borgia (literally the Final Boss), the son of Isabella Borgia and the human Scarface had spared in 1930. Hunter had enhanced himself with Predator-based technology and physical augmentations (using Yautja blood), becoming a Yautja hybrid with immense strength and advanced firepower. Scarface confronted him atop the Borgia Industries tower, where the two engaged in a brutal final battle. Using a mix of close combat skills and veteran experience, Scarface overwhelmed Hunter and decapitated him. This victory erased the last trace of the Borgia legacy and fulfilled the redemption demanded by Scarface’s clan.
Final Fate Of Scarface
With Hunter Borgia defeated and Predator technology reclaimed, the Dark Blade Clan accepted Scarface back into their ranks. The hunters retrieved him from Neonopolis, acknowledging that he had restored his honor through perseverance and combat. Scarface left Earth aboard their ship and rejoined Yautia society as a fully Blooded warrior once more. He took with him a trophy room filled with twelve human skulls and three Yautja skulls. His later hunts remain unrecorded, as he has not appeared elsewhere in Yautja lore.
Weapons And Armor
Scarface used a formidable arsenal of Yautja equipment, both traditional and advanced. His primary weapons included wrist blades (with a big scimitar augmentation) , a combistick, a smart disc, a speargun, and a plasmacaster. His armor incorporated bone trophies, skull ornaments, and reinforced plates that reflected his long years of fighting. The exposed scarring around his left eye and his aged, battle-worn mask made his appearance instantly recognizable. Throughout his missions, he recovered many pieces of stolen Predator technology, ensuring no human would wield their weapons again.
Scarface Figure
Even though Scarface is a fan-favorite Predator, he has not appeared in any other Predator material. However, NECA did make an "Ultimate" version of his figure, including most of his signature weaponry. The figure included interchangeable heads, with both masked and unmasked versions that displayed his missing eye. In a surprising move, NECA later released the Stone Heart Predator, one of the biggest Yautja figures ever (besides the Assassin Predator).
Behind The Scenes
The voice of Scarface was done by voice actors Aimée Leigh and Sarah Brown. His mask resembled the Celtic Predator from the first Alien vs. Predator movie, which in turn was based on the Guardian Predator mask from Predator 2. The character of Scarface was designed to resemble the classic Yautja from the Predator films, but with distinctive customisations such as tribal ornaments. After progressing through the game, different Scarface skins become available, even including Yautja armor from Alien vs. Predator.
Conclusion
Scarface’s story followed him from New Way City in 1930 to the neon streets of Neonopolis a century later. He fought gangs, cyborg soldiers, corrupted Yautja, and the last surviving members of the Borgia family. Along the way he reclaimed lost gear, settled old scores, and earned back the honor his clan once stripped from him. His story ended with his return to Yautja space, leaving behind a trail of battles that shaped his long and violent life.
