New Xenomorph Types In Aliens: Fireteam 2 Revealed
Cold Iron Studios has officially revealed several new Xenomorph types for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, expanding the game's roster of Xenomorphs, pathogen creatures, and synthetic threats. Alongside returning enemies like the Crusher and Drone, the sequel introduces dangerous new organisms including the Exploder, Siren, Warden, Harbinger, and Bulwark. Each creature fills a specific battlefield role and appears designed to pressure Colonial Marine squads in different ways. Some specialize in ambush tactics, others focus on area denial or reinforcement summoning, while several use brutal close-range attacks to scatter players. Here is a full breakdown of every newly revealed enemy type in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2.
Warden
The Warden is one of the largest and most heavily built Xenomorph variants revealed so far. Described as stockier than a Praetorian, the creature combines brute strength with sudden bursts of speed that allow it to rapidly close the distance between itself and Marine squads. The Warden specializes in frontline disruption and zone control. It can knock players off their feet during melee attacks while also spitting acid to deny movement areas and force repositioning. Despite its bulky frame, the creature is reportedly faster than its appearance suggests. The Warden seems designed to aggressively break up squad formations and punish teams that remain grouped together for too long. The Warden looks somewhat like the Xenomorph King from older Alien lore, but that has been confirmed not to be the case.
Exploder
The Exploder is a volatile Runner-type Xenomorph covered in swollen pustules and unstable organic growths. According to Cold Iron Studios, the creature functions as a suicide pressure unit that detonates when it gets close to players. Its explosive attack forces squads to constantly reposition instead of remaining entrenched behind defensive chokepoints. Although dangerous on its own, the Exploder can also become a weapon against nearby enemies if players trigger the detonation at the right moment. The creature appears to be an evolved extension of the Burster archetype from the first game, but with a faster and more aggressive attack pattern. This type of Xenomorph also showed up in Aliens: Colonial Marines, then known as the "Boiler".

Siren
The Siren is a support-oriented Xenomorph that acts as a living alarm system for the hive. Unlike most Xenomorphs, the Siren is not primarily designed for direct combat. Instead, its greatest threat comes from its ability to summon additional enemies into battle, similar to the Witch from the Left 2 Dead games. Cold Iron described the creature as a reinforcement beacon capable of escalating encounters by continuously calling in backup forces. The Siren reportedly favors Bursters as support summons, potentially overwhelming squads with explosive swarm attacks if it is left alive for too long. Its design suggests that target prioritization and crowd control will become much more important in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2.

Harbinger
The Harbinger is one of the strangest creatures revealed for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. Classified as a pathogen-mutated organism, the Harbinger features a grotesque multi-armed body dominated by an enormous maw filled with teeth. The creature relentlessly pursues players across the battlefield and specializes in immobilizing targets with powerful grapple attacks. Its appearance has already drawn comparisons to the Trilobite from Prometheus, particularly because of its oversized mouth structure and mutated pathogen-based biology. Some fans have also compared the creature to unused Proto-Xenomorph concept art connected to the black liquid pathogen experiments. The Harbinger may represent one of the clearest links yet between the pathogen mutations introduced in Prometheus and the gameplay systems of the Fireteam series.
Bulwark
The Bulwark is not a Xenomorph at all, but a massive armored synthetic crawler enemy (but somewhat similar to a robotic Xenomorph). Cold Iron categorized the creature as an automaton-class heavy disruptor that uses thick plated armor to shield itself while advancing toward players. Unlike standard humanoid Synth enemies, the Bulwark moves on multiple legs and appears designed specifically for close-range disruption. Once it closes the distance, it physically knocks Marines out of position and disrupts defensive lines. The creature's heavily armored frame may force players to target weak points or coordinate heavy weapon fire in order to stop its advance. Its low profile and crawler movement style also make it visually distinct from the humanoid synthetic enemies seen in the original Fireteam Elite.
Crusher
The Crusher returns from the original Aliens: Fireteam Elite as a large armored Runner variant built around charging attacks. It leads with a heavy plated skull carapace, using its reinforced front armor to bash into Marines and immobilize them on impact. Head-on attacks are ineffective against the Crusher because its frontal armor absorbs punishment and makes direct engagements dangerous. The most reliable counter is coordinated flanking, with one player distracting the creature while another attacks from the side or rear. In Fireteam Elite 2, the Crusher remains a high-threat disruptor designed to break defensive lines and punish squads that fail to move.
Drone
The Drone is the classic Xenomorph threat returning from the first Fireteam Elite. It hits hard, moves quickly, and uses vent networks to disengage, disappear, and reposition around combat spaces. Unlike simple swarm enemies, the Drone is built around ambush behavior and direct melee pressure. Pinning one down requires focused squad firepower, since anything less gives the creature time to escape and attack again from another angle. Its familiar silhouette and combat profile make it the most traditional Xenomorph in the revealed enemy roster. The Drone supports the theory that Warriors and Drones are separate castes, but are usually considered to be the same in movie lore.
Striker
The Striker is a returning pathogen-mutated organism from Aliens: Fireteam Elite. It is a large bipedal brute with club-like hands, heavy melee impact, and enough speed to pressure players across the battlefield. Although it is not the fastest pathogen creature, it is surprisingly quick for its size and commits to relentless pursuit once it targets a Marine. The Striker uses sweeping arm attacks to crush players, knock them around, and disrupt squad positioning. Its role in Fireteam Elite 2 is that of a heavy melee pursuer, forcing teams to keep moving while managing other Xenomorph and pathogen threats.
Conclusion
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is introducing a wide range of new enemies that expand far beyond the standard Drone and Warrior archetypes. The explosive Exploder, reinforcement-calling Siren, heavily armored Warden, pathogen-mutated Harbinger, and crawler-like Bulwark each bring new combat mechanics and tactical threats to the battlefield. Combined with returning Xenomorphs, synthetic enemies, and pathogen mutations, the sequel appears focused on making encounters more unpredictable and aggressive than the original game. Also, expect the return of the Alien Queen. Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will be released in summer 2026.
