The Siren is a support Xenomorph caste in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, new for the sequel rather than a return from the first game. Cold Iron Studios lists it as a Support / Caller with a Reinforcement Beacon role, a living alarm for the hive rather than a frontline fighter. Direct threat is Low. Indirect threat is High, because the scream brings more Xenomorphs into the room.
Appearance
The Siren has a smooth elongated dome, a lean Warrior-scale body, and pale bone marks on the neck, ribs, and lower legs. Promotional shots put it in hive resin with the mouth thrown open, and in a line with heavier crest types that bulk or crouch beside it. Extra dorsal tubes sit on the back, some aimed out to the sides, with split flaps at the tips. That is a thinner silhouette than the Warden, which carries a wide crest and a dense knuckle stance.
Combat Role
Cold Iron framed the job as a living alarm, not a brawler. The scream calls more Xenomorphs into the fight, and the favored summons are Bursters. Leave the Siren alive and a Colonial Marine squad has to hold the next wave while still hunting the caller. Chris Cross at Cold Iron listed it as his favorite new Xenomorph for that split: stay alive, or stop the spawn. Cold Iron compared the role to the Witch from Left 4 Dead.
Behind The Scenes
Concept sheets mark the tube flaps and note that they vibrate. That is the scream gear on the Siren, not a larger jaw. IGN showed it in May 2026 as part of its First coverage, alongside the Exploder and the Warden among the Fireteam 2 Xenomorph types. The same reveal named the player unit Fireteam Chimaera. Cold Iron also brought back the Drone and the Crusher from the first Fireteam Elite, so the sequel's swarm now has the old ambusher and charger plus this living alarm in the same roster.
Similar Xenomorphs
The Tuber Xenomorph in Alien: Revival opened a tube-worm mouth and screamed, then went down a throat. That scream is the kill, not a call for help. A Queen can send a hive with an audible screech, which is the older commander version of the same idea. Facehuggers in Alien: Out of the Shadows shrieked when they burned, a sound too human, and Leapers in Aliens: Bug Hunt jammed radios with theirs. The Siren keeps that loud habit and turns it into a beacon.
Conclusion
The Siren is Fireteam Elite 2's living alarm: weak in a straight fight, dangerous if it lives, a scream from vibrating tube flaps that brings Bursters and the rest of the hive. It arrives with the rest of the new roster on August 25, 2026.
