The Crusher is a heavily armored quadruped Xenomorph caste from the Runner line, built around a plated skull and a charge that knocks Marines down. Aliens: Colonial Marines introduced it on LV-426 in 2013. Aliens: Dark Descent later used the same caste on Lethe, and the charge stayed in Fireteam Elite and Fireteam Elite 2. Shots into the front of the crest do little damage, so rifle fire has to go into the thinner hide on the flanks and rear.

Appearance

Crusher Xenomorph crouched in an industrial bay, pale crest and shoulder plates catching yellow light

The Crusher stays on four legs, lower and thicker than a standing Warrior. A bone-white or bronze crest covers the skull, wider than the plates on most Praetorians and closer in span to a Queen's cowl. Before a charge it drops that crest into a vertical shield so the body sits behind the bone, with thick shoulder plates, dorsal tubes, and a heavy bladed tail behind it. Some hive lore treats it as a four-legged Praetorian grown from a large animal host, though Colonial Marines never named the animal.

Abilities

A Crusher Xenomorph charging through an industrial bay under rifle fire

The Crusher drops its crest, runs a straight line, and hits hard enough to knock a Colonial Marine off their feet. Fire from a pulse rifle into the front of that plate does little, so damage has to go into the flanks and rear. When it cannot line up a run, a stomp can still knock a squad down. It still has the species inner jaw and a heavy bladed tail, and it uses both on a Marine who is already on the ground.

Crusher In Aliens: Colonial Marines

The first Crushers were on LV-426 with the USS Sephora Marines, after the atmosphere processor had already gone up. One shoved a Weyland-Yutani APC off a cliff before the squad ever fought one, and another lay wounded in a breached outpost. The live specimen in the Origin cell around the Engineer wreck was a Queen, not a Crusher. The first stand-up fight came in the streets outside Hadley's Hope after the vehicle bay, during Hope in Hadley's. The crest took pulse-rifle and Smartgun fire from the front, while the charge knocked a Marine flat and ran through concrete barriers. Aliens: Aftermath later left an irradiated Xenomorph on that same ground, another hive form changed by the blast.

Crusher In Aliens: Dark Descent

On Lethe in 2023, Crushers were rare and closer to a boss fight than a common hallway spawn. A Crusher roared, then ran a straight charge or stomped the ground hard enough to knock Jonas Harper's Marines down, and welded doors did not hold. Unlike a Praetorian, it did not gather other Xenomorphs around it. A mine on the charge line or an RPG hit stopped the run more cleanly than rifle fire into the crest.

Merchandise

Hiya Toys 1:18 Aliens Colonial Marines Crusher Xenomorph figure in a charge crouch

Hiya Toys shipped a 1:18 Aliens: Colonial Marines Crusher in the Exquisite Mini line. The figure ran about 12 inches long and 5 inches high, with an extendable tongue, a second pair of hands, and a stand. It was a Previews exclusive and reached shops in August 2018, in the same Colonial Marines wave as the Raven. NECA did not release a Crusher of its own.

Conclusion

The Crusher is a four-legged Xenomorph that leads with a plated skull and uses a charge to knock Marines down. It first appeared on LV-426 in Colonial Marines, then on Lethe in Dark Descent, and the Fireteam games kept the same attack.
