Pilot "Cyborg" Predator: A Killer Of Killers Profile

By | Published July 10, 2025

The Pilot Predator, also known as the “Cyborg Predator,” was a highly modified Yautja featured in the animated anthology film Predator: Killer of Killers. Known for its mechanical enhancements and unorthodox tactics, the Cyborg operated during World War II and participated in aerial combat over North Africa. This Predator was distinct not only because of its cybernetics but also due to its role as an ace pilot—a rare specialization among its kind.

The Pilot "Cyborg"

The Pilot Predator earned the nickname “Cyborg” due to visible mechanical augmentations, including a fully covered cybernetic eye, a reinforced nose and mouth area, and possibly other unseen augmentations to his lower body. These modifications were likely a result of severe combat injuries or deliberate enhancements to improve piloting ability. The Predator appeared more brutal and straightforward in its hunts, abandoning stealth in favor of direct aerial confrontations. It was one of the few Predators shown to operate independently during a major human war while using a spacecraft. The Pilot Predator was never seen hunting on the ground, although he could have done so in the past.

A Brief History Of Predators In World War 2

Predators had reportedly visited Earth during several global conflicts, including both World Wars. In World War II, their presence was noted in both the Pacific and European theaters. A Predator appeared during the Battle of Iwo Jima, while others were involved in skirmishes in South America, as shown in the Demon’s Gold comic. Furthermore, a Predator was mentioned to have hunted in Stalingrad in the Rage War epic book series. These encounters supported the idea that Predators viewed global war zones as ideal hunting grounds, targeting soldiers from all factions without discrimination.

Pilot Predator's Ship

The ship of the Pilot Predator

The Pilot Predator flew a compact and highly maneuverable spacecraft optimized for dogfighting. The ship featured cloaking capabilities, kinetic weapons (but no plasma-based weapons), and reinforced armor. Unlike traditional Yautja vessels used for atmospheric entry or transport, this one was clearly a war machine. It engaged multiple Allied fighter planes, demonstrating both its resilience and advanced firepower. However, the Predator was not shown to engage any Nazi or Vichi France fighters, preferring to target US forces (but not ships). The ship’s unique design reflected the specialized role of its pilot and suggested a level of engineering not seen in typical Predator hunts.

Pilot Predator vs. Allied Fighters

In the skies over North Africa during Operation Torch, the Cyborg Predator attacked Allied fighter squadrons, which were engaged in fighting the Vichy French forces. Several aircraft were destroyed using mostly harpoon-like weapons. The Predator used an aerial drone system linked by cables to retrieve aircraft components and pull pilots from their cockpits. The Predator took down at least 2 fighter squadrons from a nearby United States aircraft carrier using these tactics. The attacks escalated until Allied forces launched a counter-operation to intercept and neutralize the unknown enemy.

Pilot Predator vs. John Torres

John J. Torres, a young Allied pilot, joined the mission against the Predator in a partly broken airplane. After learning its tactics from a Yautja Harpoon weapon, Torres located the Predator vessel and engaged it in mid-air combat together with his squadron. After losing all members of his squad (including even Michael Biehn), he succeeded in severely damaging the Predator’s craft. Torres took on the Predator's ship in different combat scenarios, including above the clouds, near the terrain (with Vichy forces firing upon them with anti-aircraft weapons), and above the ocean (with Allied ships firing).

Pilot Predator's Death

The death of the Pilot Predator

The Pilot Predator met his end over the ocean near the coast of North Africa. John Torres wore the Predator's ship down by constantly evading its attacks and distracting him with different tactics. The Predator's ship took damage from Allied fighters, the Vichy anti-aircraft weapons, and finally, the anti-aircraft guns of the Allied warships. With a gaping hole in the front part of the ship, the Predator was finally taken down by its own harpoon, after Torres distracted him with a parachute. The Predator's ship exploded over the ocean, with pieces of the wreckage falling into the sea, leaving no visible trace of Yautja technology. John Torres was abducted by the Yautja collector ship later due to his feat of defeating a Predator.

Rank And Subspecies

The race and subspecies of the Pilot Predator

The exact Yautja rank of the Cyborg Predator was unclear, but its piloting skills and advanced equipment suggested elite status. The Pilot Predator was probably part of the same Yautja clan that the Viking Killer and Samurai Killer were part of. This was reinforced by the evidence that the three humans who defeated these Predators ended up first in stasis and later on Yautja Prime. The Pilot may have belonged to a lesser-known subspecies or faction of Yautja that favored mechanical enhancement. Cybernetic modification was rare and often controversial among traditional Yautja, and was mostly considered to be a Bad Blood activity.

Weapons And Armor

The Pilot Predator's personal weapons were not really shown, but he used all the different offensive capabilities of his ship. The ship employed a Yautja Harpoon, a plasma whip-like weapon that entangled enemy fighters, and a giant Predator net. The optical implant provided thermal vision and targeting systems, which were integrated with the ship. On his body, the Pilot Predator wore a big metallic chest armor. On his shoulders were bone-like spikes, unseen elsewhere in Yautja lore (although many Predators had hairs protruding from their bodies).

Other Cyborg Predators

The Bionic Predator from Predator: Hunting Grounds

Cyborg Predators were a known but rare subset of Yautja, appearing in both expanded lore and video games. Notable examples included the Bionic Predator, who received enhancements after severe injuries, and the Spiked Tail and Lasershot Predators, members of the Rogue Space Tribe who embraced technology for dominance. Others, like Stone Heart and Long Spear from Predator: Concrete Jungle, were forcibly modified by human corporations. These cases showed that cybernetic Predators often operated outside traditional codes and were viewed as either outcasts or experiments.

Conclusion

The Pilot Predator was one of the three Yautja featured in the Predator: Killer Of Killers anthology movie. Featured in the third World War 2 section, the Predator exclusively focused on aerial combat, targeting Allied airplanes. The Predator was cybernetically enhanced, possibly due to injuries endured in the past, or the choice to cybernetically enhance himself to better integrate with the ship. Although the Pilot Predator died at the hands of John J. Torres, the Predators tried to enact revenge on the human by kidnapping him and forcing him to fight in an arena on Yautja Prime.
