Viking Killer Predator: A Killer Of Killers Profile

By | Published May 26, 2025

The Viking Killer (nicknamed "Monster") is one of the three main Predators appearing in Predator: Killer Of Killers, a 2025 animated anthology film released on Hulu. The anthology presents multiple standalone stories set in different time periods, each exploring Predator encounters with different cultures. The Viking section features a large Yautja that has a long conflict with a Scandinavian village, specifically with a female Viking warrior, and his son.

The Viking Killer "Monster" Predator

In the story, the Predator is referred to only as "The Monster," reflecting the villagers’ lack of understanding and fear. Rather than appearing as a high-tech alien, the creature is treated as a supernatural threat—silent, efficient, and deadly. The Yautja is unusually large and muscular, possibly a result of hybridization, or being part of another Yautja subspecies. The Predator chooses to use little armor, leaving his upper body exposed. The Viking Killer has lost a limb during a previous hunt - he has replaced his right arm with a Power Fist.

A Brief History Of Predators vs. Vikings

The Viking Predator from Predator: Hunting Grounds

The idea of Yautja encountering Vikings predates this film and has appeared in works like the short story “Skeld’s Keep” from the If It Bleeds anthology. These stories often compare the honor-based warrior ethos of Viking society with that of the Yautja. Both cultures prize skill in battle and view combat as a proving ground. The Predator: Hunting Grounds featured both a Viking Predator and a Valkyrie Predator, going even further with the Yautja-Viking connection. The game suggests that some Predators styled their armor out of respect for the Viking culture. The Yautja even serve similar gods - one of the Predator gods is described to be an "Extraterrestrial Odin" in the first Alien vs. Predator movie novelization.

A Missing Arm

The Viking Killer is missing an arm

During a previous hunt, the Predator lost his right arm, possibly when fighting Vikings. The injury was severe, as the arm is so large, but the Yautja managed to either win the fight, or retreat, and heal his injury. Back in action, the Viking Killer replaced his missing arm with a "Power Fist", a Yautja weapon previously seen in Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, used by Wolf Predator. When powered up, the fist is able to punch through concrete and obliterate opponents. Predators replacing their limbs with cybernetic or synthetic ones is common in Yautja lore, as the Predators don't regrow limbs.

Long Conflict With a Viking Village

In the Killer Of Killers trailer, the main female Viking described the presence of the "Monster" as if the creature had terrorized the Viking village several times, starting long ago. The large Yautja is seen observing rival Viking tribes fighting each other, possibly gaining an interest in the winners. In a later fight, the Predator is seen killing several Vikings, while using the Power Fist to make part of the large Viking hall collapse. Although the female Vikings seems to pass on the knowledge to his son, the son is not seen fighting the Predator but might do so in the movie.

A Fight Underwater

A female Viking fights the Yautja underwater

After the combatants fall from a cliffside Viking building, a climactic fight unfolds under the ice between the Predator and the female Viking raider. Set in a cold river or lake, the scene reduces mobility and adds an unpredictable element to the battle. Predators have been shown to hunt and fight underwater before, but not yet in the movies. It has been revealed that they are great swimmers (with large feet and muscular arms), and could possibly even hold their breath longer than humans. However, the Viking Predator seems to be stuck on a chain, which might result in his drowning. A wounded Predator previously drowned in the Predator: Nemesis, showing that is indeed possible.

The Type And Rank Of The Viking Killer

The Predator’s official type or caste is not stated in the film, and no specific classification has been released. The big muscular body and very long dreadlocks hint at a seasoned hunter, at least an Elite. His large size might indicate a new subspecies of Yautja, or hybridization. However, hybridization came into use by the Yautja centuries later, which resulted in a Civil War (as described in The Predator). His behavior and large size somewhat align with the Berserker Predators (or Super Predators) seen in Predators (2010). However, their faces don't align very well, although both have red eyes.

Similarities With The Gladiator Predator

The Gladiator Predator from Superman and Batman vs. Aliens and Predator comic book

The Viking Killer has a striking resemblance to the "Gladiator Predator" from the Superman and Batman vs. Aliens and Predator comic book, whom Batman fought. They share greenish-grey skin, long but thin dreadlocks, minimal weaponry, exposed upper bodies, and of course, a large muscular body. The Gladiator Predator did not use a Power Fist, but he was defeated by Batman's Power Fist, electrocuting his body. The Gladiator Predator was part of a tribe of Yautja who lived secretly under the Andes Mountains. After Batman defeated Gladiator (and let him live), he befriended the Yautja and helped them escape Earth.

Weapons And Armor

The Weapons and armor of the Viking Killer

The Viking Killer Predator carries only a few weapons, most notably the Power Punch First which replaced his right arm. It does not use a plasma caster or projectile-based technology. The armor is almost non-existent, while only protecting the groin area. The Viking Killer does not even wear any fishnets, which is surprising in the cold Nordic setting (the fishnets provide heat for the Predator bodies). The helmet design is adapted visually to match the Viking setting, with the material being either bone or wood. Despite the minimalist approach, he still uses cloaking technology for ambush tactics.

Conclusion

The Viking Killer Predator is a large and muscular Yautja featured in the Viking-era segment of Predator: Killer of Killers. Portrayed as a mythic threat by the local population, the Predator engages in multiple confrontations with Viking warriors, including an (possibly final) underwater battle. The character is defined by minimal armor, a missing arm replaced by a Power Fist, and a visual design that reflects the surrounding culture. While his specific classification is not confirmed, his size, gear, and tactics suggest a high-ranking brute-force Yautja, from a new subspecies. The segment builds on previous Predator and Viking crossovers in expanded lore, continuing the theme of Yautja hunting elite human warriors throughout history.
