Samurai Killer Predator: A Killer Of Killers Profile
The Samurai Killer Predator, is a new Yautja introduced in the animated anthology film Predator: Killer of Killers (2025). Set in feudal Japan, this agile hunter engages in a brutal battle for succession between two brothers—a ninja and a samurai. This Predator is distinguished by the absence of its upper mandibles, a trait that has not been seen previously in Yautja lore. In the Expanded Universe, Predators have fought Samurai many times before, and even dressed up as Samurai.
The Samurai Killer

The Samurai Killer Predator appears in the second segment of Predator: Killer of Killers, set in Feudal Japan, possibly during the time period of 12-17th century. Exhibiting great agility and stealth, this Yautja confronts a ninja who has turned against his samurai brother in a deadly succession conflict. The Predator's combat style is characterized by swift movements and precise strikes, making it a lethal opponent in close-quarters combat. His appearance is more refined and tactical than that of bulkier Yautja like the Viking Killer, reflecting the movements of the Samurai and Ninja. The Samurai Killer seems to use the most weapons out of the three Predators appearing in the movie.

A Brief History Of Predators vs. Samurai

The encounter between Predators and samurai warriors has been a recurring theme in the franchise's expanded lore. In Predator: Blood Feud, a clan of Predators engages in a massive battle against a thousand samurai warriors, resulting in significant casualties on both sides. Another notable instance is the duel between Hanzo, a Yakuza enforcer, and the Falconer Predator in Predators (2010), where Hanzo sacrifices himself to kill the Yautja. Their story continued in Aliens vs. Predators: Ultimate Prey, with Hanzo's brother seeking vengeance and encountering Predators and Xenomorphs on the Game Preserve Planet. The Samurai Predator from Predator: Hunting Grounds dressed up as a red samurai, hinting that the Predators like to cosplay as Earth's mightiest warriors. The alternative theory is that humans styled their armor after the Predators.
The Samurai Killer's Face With Missing Upper Mandibles

One of the unique features of the Samurai Killer Predator is the absence of its upper mandibles. This anatomical anomaly is rarely seen among Yautja and could be the result of either battle damage, or a unique mutation of yet another Predator subspecies. Some Predators have been experimented on, and parts of their bodies removed. For example, the Stone Heart Predator from Predator: Concrete Jungle had his dreadlocks removed by humans to get easier access to his brain. A Yautja who has lost one mandible in battle is common - such as the case with Wolf Predator who lost a part of his face due to Xenomorph acid. The Black Goo Infected Predator from Predator: Fire And Stone had grown 14 mandibles as a result of a mutation.
A Conflict With Samurai Brothers

The Samurai Killer Predator's primary adversaries are two brothers—a ninja and a samurai—entangled in a succession dispute. The Predator targets both, using their internal conflict to its advantage. The Predators are drawn to both heat and conflict, although the orange foliage seems to suggest parts of the story take place in autumn. The Predator is stalking on the rooftops at nighttime, with only the moon highlighting his presence. It is possible that the Predator kills one of the brothers, while the other seeks revenge. In the trailer, the Predator is seen fighting the "ninja" brother (with darker clothes), and is seen stabbed through the left arm with a Katana.

The Type And Rank Of The Samurai Killer

While specific details about the Samurai Killer Predator's clan affiliation remain undisclosed, its advanced combat skills and unique physical traits suggest a high-ranking status among its kind. The Predator's choice of feudal Japan as its hunting ground indicates a preference for challenging prey, aligning with the Yautja's cultural emphasis on honorable combat. He is either a "Blooded" or Elite Predator, although some factions of the Predators don't hunt Xenomorphs which means they don't conform to the "blooding" ritual. The Samurai Killer is similar to the "Light Predator" seen in Aliens vs. Predator 2, in terms of agility, choice of weapons, and stealth tactics.
Samurai Killer's Weapons

The Samurai Killer Predator wields a wide array of weapons, more than the other Predators from the movie. He wears metal "claws", which makes each of his fingers deadly. On his left arm, the Samurai Killer has dual wristblades, the most recognizable feature of any Predator. On the right shoulder, there are dual shoulder cannons. Dual shoulder cannons have been seen before used by Wolf Predator but are attached to different shoulders. On the back, the Samurai Killer has a traditional Yautja spear, although it comes with a "cross-expand" feature, which can cut adversaries in half. Finally, the Predator has a wrist harpoon attached to his left-arm gauntlet, a Xenomorph tail-like device that can attach to an enemy and pull him closer.
Samurai Killer's Gear And Armor

Although the Predator moves fast and seems lean, most of his body is covered by metallic armor, except the arms and neck area. The Samurai Killer wears a metallic bio-mask, while leaving his mandibles protruding out from the bottom. This hints that the is not wearing a "full" bio-mask which would let him breathe in space or underwater. He has pouches on the right leg, possibly featuring the medicomp device and other useful equipment. Finally, the Samurai Killer is using a Yautja cloaking device, which technology resembles the Feral Predator's cloak from Prey. This aligns well with the Predator timeline, as both Predators hunt close to the same era.
Conclusion
The Samurai Killer Predator is a Yautja featured in Predator: Killer of Killers (2025), appearing in a segment set during Japan’s feudal era. The character is depicted engaging in a conflict involving two rival brothers, a ninja and a samurai. Distinctive for its missing upper mandibles, the Predator resembles both the Feral Predator from Prey and the Light Predator from Aliens vs. Predator 2. Like the City Hunter from Predator 2, the Samurai Killer relies on a wide array of weapons and seems to take on many adversaries at the same time. Hopefully, he is not as sloppy as the City Hunter, leaving much of its gear behind.
