Hadley's Hope on LV-426 held about 158 colonists before the 2179 outbreak, not even counting the Marines, per Aliens: River of Pain. Roughly sixty or seventy families lived there. Aliens showed only a handful of those settlers on screen or in colony records. Novels and comics later named many more, from wildcatters and med staff to the group that fled aboard the freighter Onager.
This roster lists named colonists and related civilian staff one by one across sources. It then closes with the Colonial Marine garrison from River of Pain. That Marine detail sits outside the 158 civilian count. Alien: Sea of Sorrows mentions the lost colony only in general terms and adds no settler names here.
Movie Colonists
These are the Hadley's Hope settlers named or shown through Aliens: Director's Cut and its colony records. The pre-outbreak colony scene packs the corridors with many extras. Several wear nametags, but the lettering is not readable on screen. Later sections only add people who are not already covered above.
W. Alan Simpson
W. Alan Simpson, usually called Al, was colonial administrator of Hadley's Hope from the early years through 2179. In Aliens Special Edition material and River of Pain, he handled Carter Burke's special-order grid and sent the Jorden survey team to those derelict coordinates. He opened the colony recreational center around Newt's birth, clashed with Captain Brackett over Marine use on civilian runs, and later volunteered as tech guide when personnel data transmitters tracked missing people into the hive under Atmosphere Processor One. During that assault he turned and ran, a Xenomorph seized him, and Brackett shot him dead so he would not be taken alive.
Brad Lydecker
Brad Lydecker was assistant operations manager under Simpson. In Aliens he was the Ops voice on the radio when the Jorden team reported the find on the plateau. In River of Pain he relayed Russ's claim-confirmation call, then spent the outbreak sealing and evacuating sections, tracking PDTs toward the hive, and moving shelter groups. He also told Paris that Reese and Mori had left Operations for "vital data." His death was not shown in the sources.
Russ Jorden
Russ Jorden was a wildcat surveyor and prospector, husband of Anne, and father of Tim and Rebecca "Newt" Jorden. In Aliens he led the family tractor run to Burke's coordinates, entered the derelict egg chamber, and returned with a Facehugger sealed to his face. About a day later a Chestburster killed him in Medlab. River of Pain adds that Brackett's new ban on Marine survey escorts left the Jorden run unprotected, and that Brackett's team later recovered the family from the plateau after the attack. Aliens: Newt's Tale covers the same Medlab death from the kids' side of the vents.
Anne Jorden
Anne Jorden was Russ's wife and co-surveyor, and mother of Tim and Newt. She drove the family tractor, entered the derelict with Russ in the Special Edition material, and later fought through the colony's last stand. In River of Pain she was Captain Brackett's former partner from Earth. He broke off the relationship when he joined the Colonial Marines, she married Russ, and Brackett's posting to Acheron put the three of them in the same corridors again. During the surveyors' ops-center defense she let Sgt. Marvin Draper in under pressure, the hive flooded the room, and she died after pushing Newt into an air vent. Tim died near her.
Tim Jorden
Tim Jorden, often called Timmy, was the older Jorden child, nearly ten in River of Pain, with the same blond hair as Newt and a walk he tried to copy from Russ. He ran Monster Maze duct games with Newt and his friend Aaron, rode the family tractor to the derelict, and on the plateau first called his sister Newt for comfort. He later watched the Chestburster kill Russ in Medlab, then died in the surveyors' ops breach after shoving Newt into a vent. Brackett found his body a few feet from Anne's, a gun still in his small hand.
Rebecca "Newt" Jorden
Rebecca Jorden, nicknamed Newt from birth in River of Pain when Anne called her "little newt" in the delivery room, was the younger Jorden child. She was born at Hadley's Hope after a long labor under Dr. Komiskey, grew up in Monster Maze duct games with Tim and other kids, and rode the family tractor to the derelict. After Anne shoved her into a vent during the ops-center breach, she hid in the ductwork for weeks, scavenging freeze-pops and avoiding patrol routes until Ellen Ripley's Sulaco team found her. She was the only colonist still alive inside the complex in Aliens. After the Queen fight she left LV-426 aboard the Sulaco with Ripley, Hicks, and Bishop. In Alien 3 she died in her cryotube when the EEV crashed on Fury 161.
Cocooned Woman ("Mary")
During the Marines' first hive sweep in the Atmosphere Processor in Aliens, the squad found a resin-bound colonist among other hosts. She begged "Please... kill me," then a Chestburster erupted as the Warrior ambush began. The film left her unnamed in dialogue and credits her only as Cocooned woman. Later material sometimes calls her Mary, but that label's origin is unclear and may come from production notes rather than on-screen or comic lettering. She was a hive casualty from Hadley's Hope, not a named viewpoint character in River of Pain.
John J. Marachuk
John J. Marachuk, ID 93850, worked engineering maintenance at Hadley's Hope. Colony records list him as 34, brown hair and blue eyes, with a scar on his right knee. In Aliens, Bishop pulled up the Medlab log of a failed Facehugger removal on him. Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report adds that he was found in a sub-level Atmosphere Processor access tunnel with an implant creature on his face, that surgeon Dr. T. Biggs died of acid during the cut, and that acting pathologist K. Gaisford logged death on 7/17/79 as myocardial infarction from traumatic shock and poisoning.
Aliens Novelization
Alan Dean Foster's Aliens novelization names Dr. Chester Ling among the colony medical staff. Other sources use different Medlab doctors for the same stretch of the outbreak.
Dr. Chester Ling
Dr. Chester Ling, or Chester O. Ling, was one of three doctors stationed at Hadley's Hope in Alan Dean Foster's novelization. Burke read his name off the examining physician's report on the failed Facehugger removal from Marachuk.
Aliens: Newt's Tale
Aliens: Newt's Tale is a Dark Horse comic from 1992. It retold the colony's fall and the derelict trip, and named a few civilians beyond the film roster. The Jordens, Simpson, Lydecker, and the cocooned hive woman also appeared there, but they are covered above. The comic also mentioned colony livestock, which could host more implants than human settlers alone. Aliens only showed colony hamsters as small animals on screen. Those pets did not turn up again in the later novels and comics.
Aaron
Aaron was Tim's friend, a red-haired boy in Newt's Tale and River of Pain. In the comic he helped lead the boys through the ducts to watch Russ in Medlab. His parents were mentioned but not named.
Bill Andrews
Bill Andrews was a young, clean-cut colonist who often assigned survey teams, and whom Anne and Russ knew well. In Newt's Tale he told Anne the nest was at the Atmosphere Processor and that an armed party under Drapers had already been sent in. In River of Pain he arrived with Lydecker and other admin staff during the storage holdout. When Anne chose to break for the surveyors' ops center instead of waiting there for Simpson's hive team, Andrews went with her, found a hand-welder to seal the room, and stood in the front line with Stefan Gruenwald when the hive forced the doors.
Dr. Kent
Dr. Kent treated facehugged Russ in Medlab in Newt's Tale. He kept Russ there until they understood what had attached to him, and said men had already been sent back to the derelict site overnight for something to work with. When Anne wanted to take Russ to their quarters and watch him herself, Kent refused and told her to rest while he stayed with the patient. River of Pain uses Dr. Theodora Komiskey for the same Medlab stretch instead. The novelization names Dr. Chester Ling.
Draper / Drapers
Draper, sometimes lettered Drapers, led the armed nest party from the colony side in Newt's Tale and radioed Control when they found the nest. He later came back to the sealed doors looking blank and half-dead, like a walking corpse. Survivors opened up for him, and the hive was right behind. He was a colonist, not Sgt. Marvin Draper from the River of Pain Marine garrison.
Loney
Loney was one of the armed colonists who went into the hive with Drapers in Newt's Tale. Control lost the party's signal after a radio call warned Loney to look out.
Aliens: Fire and Stone
Aliens: Fire and Stone was a four-issue Dark Horse comic from 2014, one leg of the larger Fire and Stone crossover with Prometheus, Predator, and Alien vs. Predator. It followed the Hadley's Hope group that escaped on the Onager and crash-landed on LV-223. The comic put thirty-eight people onboard when the ship set down on that moon.
Derrick Russell
Derrick Russell was a terraforming engineer who helped lead survivors off Hadley's Hope in Aliens: Fire and Stone, and who also appeared in River of Pain during the late colony crisis. Teacher Genevieve Dione and prospector Nolan Cale escaped with him. After the crash, Russell explored alone with a probe he called Rover, found Prometheus-era Company gear and an Engineer terraforming array, and journaled through Standish's dropped diary after the camp thinned. He hid in a cave while mutated Cale led Xenomorphs into the remaining settlers. The miniseries ended with Russell overrun outside that shelter, begging not to die that way and considering black goo as a last resort.
Genevieve Dione
Genevieve Dione was a teacher among the Hadley's Hope survivors who reached the Onager. Fire and Stone paired her with Russell as a leader of the escape group. On LV-223 she pushed barricades and camp defense, punched Cale after he admitted he let Xenomorphs board at Hadley's Hope, and argued against his plan to storm the wreck for the transmitter. She was still running the remaining group the night before the final slaughter, and was counted among the dead when mutated Cale led Xenomorphs back to camp.
Nolan Cale
Nolan Cale was a Weyland-Yutani prospector and "wildcatter" who boarded the Onager with his survey crew. At Hadley's Hope he saw Xenomorphs enter a cargo hold, stayed quiet so the containers would not be dumped with him still aboard, and was knocked out during the rough flight. On LV-223 he kept pushing a raid for food, supplies, and the emergency beacon. After he speared and killed the merged Luiz hybrid, he confessed the cargo-hold cover-up and Dione punched him. His raid ended with black-goo exposure when the transmitter fell into a pool of it. He mutated, led Xenomorphs to the camp while still saying "Sorry," and was last dealt with as a changed threat by Russell.
J.R.
J.R. was named among the survivors leaving Hadley's Hope. The comics keep the name as initials only.
Ramona
Ramona piloted the damaged Onager off Hadley's Hope and brought it down on LV-223. Everyone aboard survived that crash landing. She was named again during a camp attack later, when survivors briefly thought she was the hybrid victim before identifying Luiz.
Carl
Carl was killed during a Xenomorph chase in the LV-223 vegetation. Survivors shouted for him to run, then Russell muttered over the kill.
Luiz
Luiz was grabbed off a raft on LV-223, then came back merged with a Xenomorph after exposure to the Black Goo Pathogen. As a human-Xenomorph hybrid he attacked the other survivors. Cale speared the merged body and killed Luiz with the same thrust, which led into Cale's confession about the Onager cargo hold.
Chris Meyers
Chris Meyers was named during a camp attack on LV-223 ("Where are Meyers and--").
Standish
Standish never appeared in person in Fire and Stone. Russell later found Standish's diary, dropped while she ran from the Aliens, and considered writing in the blank pages after reading what she left.
Alien: The Blueprints
Alien: The Blueprints labels W. Alan Simpson on Hadley's Hope colony material. His biography sits under Movie Colonists. The book also includes Acheron Geological Survey Office notes on the derelict discovery, dated 06/22/2179, which name the structural geologist below.
Josh Hayes
Josh Hayes was a structural geologist at Hadley's Hope. His survey notes on the derelict craft said Russ and his family had stumbled into it, and that he assumed its shape among the Illium Range rock formations had kept it off the initial planetoid survey. Exterior scans and 3D mapping alone had already taken five hours in harsh weather. Running the data through a processor produced imagery of how the craft may have looked before the structural failure of Prong B. Hayes wrote that the team had not yet gone inside, planned to enter in about thirty minutes, and hoped to learn what attacked Russ and how to help him.
Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report
Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report records the colony's first administrator below, then reprints medical paperwork that expands the film Medlab log on John J. Marachuk. Marachuk's biography sits under Movie Colonists. The same sheet names the surgeon and acting pathologist after Hadley.
Curtis Hadley
Curtis Hadley was the designer, founder, and first administrator of Hadley's Hope around 2157. The settlement took his name. The Report lists him deceased as of 2166, well before the 2179 outbreak, so he is not part of the 158 civilian headcount and is not counted in this roster's named-colonist total. He is not the wildcatter Curtis Finch from River of Pain.
Dr. T. Biggs
Dr. T. Biggs, ID 75492, was Hadley's Hope's only surgeon. During the attempt to cut the implant creature off Marachuk, he made a single incision on the organism's back and was sprayed with organic acid across the face and throat. The post-mortem lists him killed in that procedure. The report gives only the initial T.
K. Gaisford
K. Gaisford, ID 9870M, is listed as medtech support and acting pathologist on Marachuk's post-mortem. The report is dated 7/17/79 and records CT/MRI post-mortem work plus the failed implant removal that killed both Marachuk and Dr. Biggs. The report gives only the initial K.
Aliens: River of Pain
Christopher Golden's Aliens: River of Pain is the largest named-colonist source. Early on, Brackett put the settlement at 158 colonists, not even counting the Marines. Golden also novelized beats from Aliens: Newt's Tale, including the kids watching Russ die from the ducts and later colony holdouts. That carry-over brings back Aaron and Bill Andrews from the comic. They are covered under Newt's Tale above. Dr. Kent and colonist Drapers / Loney stay comic-only here. RoP's Medlab doctor is Komiskey, and Sgt. Marvin Draper is a Marine, not the nest-party colonist. Each remaining named civilian gets an entry below.
Mina Osterman
Mina Osterman worked architecture paperwork under Simpson, with dark eyes and a reassuring smile that he leaned on too hard. The Monday before the Burke-grid job he propositioned her for "nocturnal activities" that had nothing to do with architecture. She frowned, rolled her eyes, and went back to her papers.
Bronagh Flaherty
Bronagh Flaherty, also called Mrs. Flaherty, was the colony cook. At the rec-center opening she put out cakes and cookies while the Finch brothers brought homemade whiskey. Newt knew her kitchen for freeze-pops and cake set aside for kids, and tried to walk Captain Brackett over for one. During the storage holdout Newt asked Dr. Hidalgo if Mrs. Flaherty was there. Hidalgo's reaction told her Bronagh was gone.
Samantha Monet
Samantha Monet and her sister decorated the new recreational center when Simpson unlocked it for the opening party. The sister was never named. Monet did not reappear in the later outbreak chapters.
Mrs. Hernandez
Mrs. Hernandez babysat Newt and Tim. She met the family in the garage when Marines brought facehugged Russ home, walked them toward Medlab with wildcatter Gruenwald, and later stayed midday in the Jorden quarters with a vegetable stir-fry while Anne kept the kids indoors. Newt and Tim slipped past her while she napped on the sofa to crawl the ducts to Medlab.
Dr. Theodora Komiskey
Dr. Theodora Komiskey was the main colony doctor: squat, blue-eyed, with a mass of brown curls in River of Pain. She delivered Rebecca "Newt" Jorden after Anne's long labor, later treated facehugged Russ in Medlab, and kept working Facehugger cases until Reese's science team took over her ward. She noted roughly a dozen additional Facehugger patients as the outbreak spread.
Joel Asher
Joel Asher was nurse or med staff who assisted at Newt's birth. The Jordens had known him for about two years by that point.
Volk
Volk was a Medlab orderly at Hadley's Hope in River of Pain.
Wes Navarro
Wes Navarro assisted Dr. Hidalgo in the science and Medlab orbit. He was dragged from Medlab after Private Konig's chestburst.
Dr. Bartholomew Reese
Dr. Bartholomew Reese was Weyland-Yutani science director at the colony, company-first, with a birthmark on his jaw and throat. He pushed capture-and-study orders, took over Medlab from Komiskey, and studied live Facehuggers. When Khati Fuqua chestbursted, he shot her repeatedly to stop the birth. A Xenomorph later wounded him. He then shot himself.
Dr. Mori
Dr. Mori was a silver-haired Japanese biologist. He was openly excited by the Burke / Nostromo coordinates, confirmed the science team had a secret evac ship the colonial administrator did not control, and took a ricochet wound during Reese's shooting in Medlab. He escaped Acheron with Brackett, Paris, and Luisa.
Dr. Elena Hidalgo
Dr. Elena Hidalgo shared science leadership with Reese. The novel also calls her Theresa in places, including dialogue with Reese. She briefed Brackett on the Finch Processor Six emergency, joined the hive assault, and was fatally burned by acid blood after shooting a Xenomorph. Before she died she told Brackett about the secret science escape ship and that the Company treated the colony as expendable.
Khati Fuqua
Khati Fuqua was a lab assistant under Reese's capture-for-study orders. She joined a shock-stick hunt with Brackett and Bluejay when the science team wanted a specimen taken alive. She was later impregnated. Reese executed her mid-chestburst with multiple chest shots before she could leave the corridor.
Greg Hansard
Greg Hansard was colony chief engineer. Early in the book he ran a Processor One fissure emergency with cracked generator housing and structural engineers under him. At Newt's recreational-center party he drank with Simpson, warned that the Jorden kids were not safe on survey runs, and talked about wanting an easier posting once the Acheron work was done.
Najit
Najit was a structural engineer under Hansard during a processor fissure emergency.
Nguyen
Nguyen was an engineer on Hansard's crew in the same early processor emergency. The surname was also used later for a Marine in the same novel.
Mendez
Mendez was another engineer called during the processor fissure work under Hansard.
Jiro
Jiro was a botanist. Anne met him with the kids after the derelict return.
Virgil
Virgil was a civilian welder who sealed stairwell bolts during the defense. He later killed himself with a welding torch.
Otto Finch
Otto Finch was the elder Finch brother by two years, a red-haired wildcat surveyor about forty-seven months on Acheron when he unraveled. During a level-five storm he, Curtis, Draper, and Yousseff sheltered in Processor Six. Otto took Yousseff hostage and demanded to be taken off-world. Draper shot him through the left eye.
Curtis Finch
Curtis Finch was Otto's younger brother, brown-haired, a wildcatter with some engineering training who often drove their crawler. At Processor Six his leg was shattered. Paris and others splinted him for the heavy-crawler ride back, but shock and blood loss killed him before they regained the colony.
Stefan Gruenwald
Stefan Gruenwald was a wildcatter in the ops-center fight. He took acid to the eyes there.
Meznick
Meznick was named as a long-time wildcatter. He later held a shotgun and refused to leave storage.
Generazio
Generazio was named with Meznick as a veteran wildcatter.
Bluejay
Bluejay was a surveyor nickname used on the capture hunt with Khati.
Neela Parvati
Neela Parvati drank with Russ earlier in the novel. She died at the ops-center door when aliens forced entry.
Zak Li
Zak Li was a Facehugger patient in Medlab. He was killed by stray fire as Coughlin died.
Mo Whiting
Mo Whiting was another Facehugger patient in Medlab. Komiskey removed the hugger from him in an earlier beat.
Saida Warsi
Saida Warsi was a Facehugger patient who woke screaming when the hugger was removed. She was treated in the same Medlab stretch as Mo and Zak.
Luisa Cantrell
Luisa Cantrell was Newt's red-haired friend. She was found cocooned in the surveyors' ops area, still alive. Brackett freed her and carried her onto the science evac ship with Paris and Mori. She woke later in a sleep chamber.
Lizzie Russo
Lizzie Russo was named in Newt's Monster Maze circle of kids. The novel does not confirm her later fate.
Kembrell
Kembrell was also named in the Monster Maze circle with Lizzie and Aaron. It is unclear whether Kembrell is a given name or a surname.
Aliens: Bug Hunt
Aliens: Bug Hunt is an anthology novel released in 2017. Most of the book focused on backstories for the Sulaco Colonial Marines. Ray Garton's story No Good Deed sent escaped convicts into Hadley's Hope during the outbreak.
Lupo
Lupo was a Hadley's Hope colonist working heavy equipment, an old buddy of Enzo Jaeger. He spoke for a barricaded group over colony speakers and refused to open up for Jaeger and Bates. No surname was given.
Aliens: Aftermath
Aliens: Aftermath (2021) returned to the ruined colony in 2214, about thirty-five years after the Atmosphere Processor blast. Colony systems still named one civilian host from the original outbreak.
Subject Zero
Subject Zero is Aftermath's label for an original Hadley's Hope colonist logged as the colony's first known impregnation case. Weyland-Yutani records described him as frozen to quarantine and preserve the specimen. In 2214, Cutter Vasquez of Renegade XM was hired to pull that cryotube from the sublevels. During the fight with the site's irradiated Xenomorph, the chamber was damaged, stasis failed, and a Chestburster finally erupted.
The comic never prints a civilian name for him. Treating him as Russ Jorden conflicts with Aliens, where Russ died to a Chestburster in Medlab about a day after the derelict trip, and the comic art does not match film Russ. This roster keeps Subject Zero under Aftermath, separate from Russ.
Colonial Marines At Hadley's Hope
River of Pain stationed a Colonial Marine security detail at Hadley's Hope. Brackett's first muster counted 21 Marines. They are not part of the 158 colonists. Seventeen are named below. That garrison conflicts with Aliens: if Marines had already been based at the colony, Lieutenant Gorman and Sergeant Apone on the Sulaco drop would have known about them, and the mission brief would not treat Hadley's Hope as a civilian site gone silent with no prior Marine detachment on record.
Capt. Demian Brackett
Capt. Demian Brackett was commanding officer of the Colonial Marine security detail at Hadley's Hope in 2179, about 21 Marines under him with Lieutenant Julisa Paris as XO. Years earlier he had ended a relationship with Anne Jorden when he joined the Corps. She married Russ, and Brackett's new post put him back in the same corridors as her family. On day one he led the Processor Six rescue, banned Marine escorts on civilian survey runs, and later recovered the Jordens after Russ was facehugged on the unprotected Burke-grid trip.
During the outbreak he fought through the corridors and the hive under Atmosphere Processor One, and shot Al Simpson rather than let a Xenomorph drag him away alive. Acid-dying Dr. Hidalgo pointed him to the science team's secret escape ship. Brackett left on it with Paris, Dr. Mori, and rescued colonist Luisa, then cut the Gateway Station autopilot so they would not hand themselves to Company handlers. He did not get Newt out. She remained the sole survivor found inside the complex in Aliens.
Lt. Julisa Paris
Lt. Julisa Paris was Brackett's XO at Hadley's Hope: tall, dark-skinned, with a pale scar across her left cheek. She greeted him on the pad with Coughlin, briefed him on Simpson and the Draper problem, and rode the Processor Six rescue where she helped with Curtis Finch's shattered leg. During the outbreak she flagged the Jordens as overdue, guarded colonist pockets, and killed Xenomorphs alongside Yousseff. She found cocooned Luisa in the surveyors' ops area, escaped on the science ship with Brackett and Mori, and ran the nav console when the ship was preset for Gateway Station.
Sgt. Coughlin
Sgt. Coughlin greeted Brackett on arrival and later died in Medlab during Private Konig's chestburst.
Sgt. Marvin Draper
Sgt. Marvin "Marv" Draper was the problem NCO with a long facial scar and a scorpion throat tattoo. Brackett read old insubordination marks in his file on day one. Paris said he could be managed if left alone. He escorted the Finch survey, shot Otto through the eye at Processor Six, disobeyed Brackett's order to recover Otto's body, and later demanded entry to the surveyors' ops holdout before the hive flooded it. He is not the colonist nest-party leader from Newt's Tale.
Pvt. Ankita Yousseff
Pvt. Ankita Yousseff rode with Draper on the Processor Six detail. One later line in the novel also called her Sergeant.
Pvt. Stamovich
Pvt. Stamovich followed Draper's lead on the Processor Six run and later sub-level fighting.
Cpl. Pettigrew
Cpl. Pettigrew was part of Draper's circle on the Processor Six detail. He later helped move Marines by freight elevator during the sub-level push.
Pvt. Boris Chenovski
Pvt. Boris Chenovski worked colony defense and storage-area guard duty. A Warrior killed him by driving its tail through his skull.
Pvt. Hauer
Pvt. Hauer was medic-capable and treated casualties after Processor Six. He was later hauled away during a sub-level fight.
Nguyen
Nguyen was a Marine on the Processor Six team and a friend of Draper. He is separate from the early Hansard engineer who shares the surname.
Sgt. Aldo Crowley
Sgt. Aldo Crowley drove the heavy-crawler and stood corridor guard. He was killed after leaving his post during an alien attack.
Pvt. Joplin Konig
Pvt. Joplin Konig was facehugged and brought into Medlab. He chestbursted there, starting the Medlab slaughter that killed Coughlin.
Pvt. Dunphy
Pvt. Dunphy came in wounded from the perimeter during the late defense. He reported that Izzo was down and that more aliens were coming.
Izzo
Izzo was reported down by Dunphy during the perimeter collapse.
Sixto
Sixto was a scarred career grunt with Brackett in the Medlab aftermath. He was still standing during later musters of the remaining squad.
Ginzler
Ginzler was left guarding the Medlab hall when Coughlin went inside.
Jimmy Valente
Jimmy Valente was named only after he was already dead. Yousseff swore over his corpse during corridor fighting, and Draper noted that someone later used Valente's weapon after acid blood took him down.
Dropship pilot Tyra flew Brackett in and is not counted as colony garrison.
Survivors
Almost the entire civilian population of Hadley's Hope died in 2179. Across the sources below, five named people clearly got out alive: Newt, Luisa, Dr. Mori, Captain Brackett, and Lieutenant Paris. Two of those five were Marines.
In Aliens, Newt was the only colonist found alive inside the complex when the Sulaco team arrived. In River of Pain, Captain Brackett, Lieutenant Paris, Dr. Mori, and young colonist Luisa got off-world on the science evac ship. In Fire and Stone, the Onager carried thirty-eight people to LV-223. The camp was slaughtered, and Derrick Russell was last seen overrun by Xenomorphs after leaving his cave, with no clean escape shown in that miniseries.

Statistics
This roster identifies 59 named colonists and related civilian staff against the colony's roughly 158 civilians, about 37% of that headcount. Add 17 named Colonial Marines from the River of Pain garrison and the named total rises to 76. Curtis Hadley, the first administrator, is listed from the Weyland-Yutani Report but is not counted with those totals.
Among those 59, sex is clear for 29 males and 17 females. The other 13 names stay unmarked or ambiguous in the sources. Six are children: Tim, Newt, Aaron, Luisa, Lizzie, and Kembrell. At least eight named civilians were facehugged or impregnated (Russ, Marachuk, the cocooned woman, Khati Fuqua, Zak Li, Mo Whiting, Saida Warsi, and Subject Zero). Komiskey also noted roughly a dozen more Facehugger patients as the outbreak spread. Across sources the colony also carries many named doctors and med staff, from Ling, Kent, Biggs, and Komiskey to science-side Reese, Mori, and Hidalgo. At least two named colonists from this roster became black-goo hybrids or mutations on LV-223: the merged Luiz and mutated Nolan Cale. Only three named civilians clearly got off Acheron alive: Newt survived with the Sulaco team, and Luisa and Dr. Mori left on the science ship with Brackett and Paris.
Conclusion
Those names are scattered across Aliens, the novelization, Newt's Tale, Fire and Stone, Alien: The Blueprints, Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report, River of Pain, Bug Hunt, and Aftermath. Most of them died in the same 2179 outbreak, whether on Acheron or after the Onager run. The film itself only put a few settlers on screen. The rest of Hadley's Hope stays unnamed in the corridors and hive. Each Medlab source likes to add its own doctors, so Ling, Kent, Biggs, and Komiskey do not line up into one staff list. The two different Drapers are another clash this roster keeps in view.
River of Pain's Colonial Marine garrison is also controversial. Aliens treats the colony as a civilian site gone silent, with colony records talking about small arms fire, seismic survey explosives, and settlers, not a prior Marine detachment. The novel still stations about 21 Marines under Captain Brackett there, which makes the Sulaco drop stranger: Lieutenant Gorman leads roughly a dozen Marines to investigate a lost colony that, in that book, already had a larger Marine force under a Captain.
