Dark Predator: Profile Of Elite Clan Yautja

By | Published November 23, 2025

Dark was an experienced member of the "Elite" Yautja clan who became known for his mission to the planet BG-386. As the main Predator from the Aliens vs. Predator 2010 video game, he was dispatched by his clan elders in response to a Young Blood distress call. This led him into a massive alien outbreak involving a Predalien "Abomination" and intense fighting against Colonial Marines. His survival and the number of kills he performed during the operation set him apart from most hunters.

The "Dark" Predator

Dark held the rank of Elite within the Yautja hierarchy and was selected for honourable duty after completing traditional trials. He served alongside two fellow Elites, Wolf and another unnamed hunter, on the BG-386 operation. His reputation grew because he not only faced Xenomorphs (including a Praetorian and Predalien) but also the United States Colonial Marine Corps in the same campaign. Unlike other main Predators from the Aliens vs. Predator games, Dark did not meet or defeat an Alien Queen, although he came close to it (a Colonial Marine beat him to it). Dark's name came from a skin from the multiplayer of Aliens vs. Predator 2010, fitting well with his dark armor.

First Rites

Some time before being dispatched, Dark completed his clan’s initiation and ascension rituals, serving as a tutorial level to the game. He trained in melee combat under the watchful gaze of the clan leader, Spartan, and the veteran hunter known simply as Wolf. He mastered the iconic wristblades and plasmacaster weapon and proved his worth during simulated hunts before being promoted. With those trials behind him (and possibly other hunts that were not shown), he earned the rank of Elite and was entrusted with one of the clan’s most dangerous assignments.

Searching For Young Bloods On BG-386

Dark’s mission on BG-386 began as an investigation into a distress call from a Young Blood pack of hunters on their first hunt. Dark and his fellows did not arrive silently, as the Predator mothership blew up the Colonial Marine ship USCSS Marlow in orbit. Upon arrival with his fellow Elites, he found the planet overrun by Xenomorphs and battling human Marines. The Young Bloods had already been lost, and Dark’s task rapidly shifted from a standard hunt to survival and revenge. He tracked the outbreak deep into the Yautja pyramid on the planet and navigated the ruins of Predator technology and alien bones.

Hunting Colonial Marines

During the BG-386 campaign, Dark confronted not only Xenomorphs but human forces as well. The Colonial Marines were deployed to handle the outbreak, but stood between Dark and his clan’s objectives. He moved through Marine-occupied facilities, eliminating high-value targets and recovering stolen Predator tech. Soon after, he encountered hardened Weyland-Yutani combat androids, who could even continue shooting after being beheaded. His actions earned him the grudging respect of both human and Yautja observers.

Obtaining Lord's Mask

Deep in the Predator pyramid on BG-386, Dark discovered the burial crypt of Lord, an ancient and legendary hunter from his clan’s past. There, he claimed Lord’s mask, a relic imbued with clan history and holographic recordings of the first battles between the Yautja and the Xenomorphs. With that mask, Dark gained access to further clan secrets, including a bracer device used for planetary destruction. Dark was probably a descendant of Lord, and sought the same amount of glory as his ancestor.

Fight Against The Abomination

In the final chamber of the pyramid, Dark faced the Abomination, a massive Predalien born from the corrupted blood of his fellow Elite Hunter, Wolf. The fight was brutal and held over a massive lava field, with the Abomination trying to bring the whole chamber on top of them. After a savage struggle, Dark emerged victorious, dragging the defeated creature onto the rooftop of the facility and throwing its corpse off the edge in imitation of his ancestor. With the bracer activated, a self-destruct countdown reached zero and the pyramid was destroyed, alongside the human facilities nearby. Dark then swiftly departed the planet.

Final Fate Of Dark Predator

Dark became the only Predator on BG-386 to escape alive from the mission and returned to his clan with his honour intact. The Lord mask contained the location and a hologram of the planet, with Alien eggs and juvenile Xenomorph Queens being shown on the initial scan of the planet. Dark set his course to the planet and the ending is left open for a sequel which would have possibly taken place on Xenomorph Prime. Dark was not featured in any other Predator lore, and the game received no story-based expansion. NECA did release one figure from the game, but surprisingly chose the "Alien Head Hunter", a Predator with a Xenomorph-like helmet.

Weapons And Armor

The weapons and armor of Dark Predator

Dark wielded a classic Predator arsenal including wrist-blades, combistick, smart disc, speargun and plasmacaster. His Yautja armor bore markings of the Elite rank: reinforced plates, advanced camouflage and trophy skulls from small, unknown creatures. Like in other Aliens vs. Predator games, Dark could use quick medicomp injections to restore his health. As an additional weapon, Dark could throw proximity mines at unsuspecting enemies, but these were in limited supply.

Dark Predator Vision Modes

Dark Predator had only access to two extra vision modes, in addition to the "normal" vision. His mask could switch from infrared to detect humans, while the green-hued "Xenomorph vision" provided Alien targeting. All visions highlighted useful items like health shards and recharge stations. In addition, Dark saw hallucination-like visions of past hunts when wearing the legendary Lord bio-mask. Dark could also zoom in on targets for sniping with his speargun.

Conclusion

Dark’s story in Aliens vs. Predator (2010) follows his mission on BG-386 from start to finish. He answers a distress call from lost Young Bloods, fights through Xenomorph-infested ruins, clashes with Colonial Marines and androids, and recovers stolen Predator technology. Deep in the Yautja pyramid, he claims the ancient Lord’s mask and eventually confronts the Predalien Abomination. After defeating it and activating the self-destruct, Dark escapes the planet as the only surviving hunter, while setting his sights on Xenomorph Prime.
