Antarctica Elder: The Ancient Isolated Clan Leader
Antarctica Elder, also known as the Ancient Predator, was a male Yautja and ancient clan leader from the Isolated Clan who appeared in Alien vs. Predator. He oversaw the initiation hunt of Scar Predator, Celtic Predator, and Chopper Predator inside the ancient pyramid beneath Bouvet Island in 2004. After Scar and Lex Woods defeated the escaped Xenomorph Queen, Antarctica Elder approached Lex, honored Scar's body, and gave Lex his combistick as a sign of respect.
Antarctica Elder On Bouvet Island
Antarctica Elder was presumably in command of the Predator Mother Ship that brought Scar, Celtic, and Chopper to Earth for their initiation hunt. While Clan Leader, Elder, and Ancient are considered to be different Yautja ranks, the Antarctica Elder seemed to embody all three roles. The young Predators descended to Bouvet Island in drop pods while Antarctica Elder and the other Yautja stayed nearby aboard the vessel. Their purpose was to observe the hunt and wait for the outcome inside the pyramid, where humans had unknowingly awakened the captive Xenomorph Queen.

The Young Blood Initiation Hunt
Antarctica Elder's role was tied to the ancient Yautja tradition of sending Young Blood Predators into a controlled Xenomorph hunt. Scar, Celtic, and Chopper entered the pyramid to recover their shoulder cannons, kill Xenomorphs, and earn the right to become Blooded hunters. The hunt quickly collapsed when the human expedition interfered with the pyramid's mechanisms and the Xenomorphs began spreading through the structure. Celtic and Chopper were killed by the Grid Alien, leaving Scar as the only surviving Young Blood for the moment.
Meeting Lex Woods
After Scar and Lex Woods escaped the pyramid, they faced the Xenomorph Queen on the frozen surface of Bouvet Island. Scar was fatally wounded during the battle, while Lex helped defeat the Queen by dragging her into the freezing sea. Antarctica Elder and several other Yautja then emerged from their cloaked ship and surrounded Lex beside Scar's body. Instead of killing her, Antarctica Elder inspected the Blooded mark burned into her face and recognized that Scar had accepted her as a worthy ally. Antarctica Elder gave Lex his combistick in recognition of her survival and her role in helping Scar kill the Xenomorphs. It made Lex one of the rare humans to receive a Predator weapon as a trophy rather than being taken as a trophy herself. After this moment, the Yautja carried Scar's body aboard the Mother Ship and left Earth.
The Predalien Mistake
Antarctica Elder did not know that Scar's body carried a Predalien Chestburster. Scar had been impregnated by a Facehugger inside the pyramid, and the hybrid creature later emerged aboard the Yautja vessel. The Predalien escaped onto a Scout Ship, killed multiple Yautja, and caused the crash near Gunnison, Colorado. This disaster led directly into the events of Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, where Wolf Predator traveled to Earth to contain the outbreak.
Antarctica Elder's Equipment
Antarctica Elder carried advanced Yautja equipment suited to his rank and age. His gear included a bio-mask, wrist gauntlet, wristblades, arm blades, cloak, medicomp, self-destruct device, and combistick. His blue-gray dreadlocks, ornate armor, and imposing height helped separate him from the younger hunters under his command. Unlike Scar, Celtic, and Chopper, Antarctica Elder did not need to prove himself in the pyramid, since his rank already marked him as an ancient and experienced Yautja.
Antarctica Elder's Figures
Antarctica Elder became a popular figure among Predator collectors despite having limited screen time. McFarlane Toys released an Ancient Predator figure based on his appearance in Alien vs. Predator, while Hot Toys later produced highly detailed versions of the character. Eaglemoss also released a figurine of the Ancient Predator, further showing how recognizable the character became among fans of the AVP movie designs. His throne-style Hot Toys release especially emphasized his status as an elder and clan leader.

Conclusion
Antarctica Elder was the ancient Yautja leader who supervised the Bouvet Island initiation hunt in Alien vs. Predator. His most important moment came after the battle with the Xenomorph Queen, when he chose to honor Lex Woods rather than treat her as prey. By giving Lex his combistick, Antarctica Elder showed the honorable side of Yautja culture and confirmed that humans could earn Predator respect through courage and combat. However, his failure to detect the Predalien inside Scar's body also allowed the Gunnison outbreak to begin.
