In Alien: Earth, set in 2120 during the Corporate Era, five megacorporations replace national governments and divide the planet into corporate territories. The Five are Weyland-Yutani, Prodigy, Threshold, Lynch, and Dynamic. Only Weyland-Yutani and Prodigy get real screen time in Season 1; the other three are mostly known by the land they control.
How Earth Was Divided
After old governments collapsed, corporate power took over emergency response, industry, and sovereignty itself. The first arrangement was a Triumvirate of Threshold, Weyland-Yutani, and Dynamic. Prodigy and Lynch were later inducted into that group, and the Triumvirate became The Five. Each corporation holds a regional bloc, and people living inside a bloc work under that company's contracts and laws. Season 1 focuses on the Prodigy-Weyland-Yutani rivalry after the USCSS Maginot crashes into Prodigy City in New Siam. Threshold, Lynch, and Dynamic stay mostly off-screen, named in dialogue and press materials more than shown in action.
Weyland-Yutani
Weyland-Yutani is the oldest and best-known of the Five, built from the merger of Weyland Corp and the Yutani Corporation. In 2120 it controls North America and South America on Earth, and it also owns Mars and Saturn. The company still leads in synthetics, cyborgs, deep-space ships, and biotech, and it owns the Maginot research mission that brings alien specimens home. On Earth, Ms. Yutani (Sandra Yi Sencindiver) represents the Yutani side of the board against Prodigy's rise.
Prodigy
Prodigy Corporation, also called Prodigy Corp, is one of the newer houses of the Five, founded around 2110 by Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin), the youngest trillionaire on record. Along with Lynch, it was inducted into the older Triumvirate rather than rising with the original three. Its sphere of influence covers Asia, Oceania, South Africa, and Iceland, and the corporate map also puts Greenland, Japan, and the British Isles under Prodigy colors. Prodigy is known for synths, AI, and the Hybrid program that downloads human minds into synthetic bodies at the Neverland island facility. New Siam and Prodigy City sit inside its Asian bloc, which is why the Maginot crash becomes a direct fight with Weyland-Yutani.
Threshold
Threshold is one of the original Triumvirate companies, and also one Season 1 barely explains. On the corporate map it holds continental Europe, Scandinavia, and stretches into parts of North Africa and the Middle East. No Threshold CEO, product line, or major facility is shown on screen. For now it exists as the European power among the Five, sitting between Lynch's Russia and Prodigy's British Isles.
Lynch
Lynch is a relatively new power as well, inducted into the Triumvirate with Prodigy when that group expanded into The Five. It controls the territory of modern Russia and the wide northern Eurasian belt beside it. The show gives no Lynch product catalog, offices, or named executives in Season 1. The odd part is the land itself: Lynch's bloc is enormous and mostly empty, a corporate claim over ground that is almost entirely depopulated by 2120. That makes Lynch look less like a packed consumer empire and more like a resource or strategic landholder with a huge, sparse map footprint.
Dynamic
Dynamic is one of the original Triumvirate firms. It holds large parts of Africa on the corporate map, with influence spilling into adjacent Middle Eastern zones depending on the border reading, while South Africa sits under Prodigy instead. Dynamic also owns the Moon, the clearest off-world claim among the three quieter companies. Beyond that territory line, Season 1 reveals almost nothing about Dynamic's business, leadership, or tech focus.
Territory Oddities
The borders look strange if you expect old national capitals to match corporate brands. Weyland-Yutani does not control the United Kingdom or Japan, even though those places sit at the historic roots of the Weyland and Yutani names. Both the UK and Japan sit under Prodigy on the 2120 map, while Weyland-Yutani is locked to the Americas plus Mars and Saturn. Lynch's near-empty Russia claim is the other standout: a full seat among the Five without a dense population base on the map.
Conflicts With Established Lore
Older Alien lore does not treat Earth as a pure corporatocracy. Expanded material, especially the Alien RPG line, maps the later 22nd century around three big political blocs: the United Americas, the Three World Empire, and the Union of Progressive Peoples (UPP). In that framework Weyland-Yutani is hugely powerful, and even holds a seat inside the Three World Empire, but it is still a company operating beside states rather than replacing them. Rival mega-corporations such as Seegson, the Grant Corporation, and MedTech also keep competing for decades after 2120, which is hard to square with five firms already owning the whole planet. Alien: Earth instead erases those governments by 2120 and puts Lynch, Dynamic, Threshold, and Prodigy on the map where United Americas, Three World Empire, and UPP territory would normally sit.
There is also the 65-year Maginot problem: the ship leaves Earth in 2055 and returns in 2120, but Weyland-Yutani does not exist until the 2099 merger of Weyland Corp and Yutani. At launch it cannot yet be a Weyland-Yutani vessel unless Weyland sent it out alone and the hull was rebranded mid-mission after the merger. Fans can treat the series as a soft reboot of Earth politics, a temporary Corporate Era that later collapses back into the older blocs, or simply as a continuity fork.
Season 2 And Peter Dinklage
FX cast Peter Dinklage as a series regular for Alien: Earth Season 2, with his character still officially unrevealed. Because Season 1 already covers Boy Kavalier and Ms. Yutani, the open seats are the leaders of Threshold, Lynch, and Dynamic. Fan speculation often points at Lynch, including the idea that Dinklage could play a Lynch executive or CEO, but that remains unconfirmed. Season 2 is the first real chance for the other three companies to stop being map labels and become active players.
Conclusion
The Five rule Earth in 2120 after Prodigy and Lynch joined the older Triumvirate of Weyland-Yutani, Threshold, and Dynamic. Season 1 is mostly a Prodigy-Weyland-Yutani fight, while Threshold, Lynch, and Dynamic stay map powers. The map leaves clear quirks, from Prodigy holding the UK, Japan, and South Africa to Lynch owning a vast, nearly empty northern bloc. If Season 2 puts Dinklage inside one of those quieter companies, the corporate war stops being a two-house fight.
