Tootles was one of the hybrid children made by Prodigy in Alien: Earth, a dying boy named Steven Dimarco whose mind was moved into an adult synthetic body. Kit Young played him. He was about 12 when the Lost Boys entered the wreck of the USCSS Maginot in 2120, and on Neverland he asked to be called Isaac after Isaac Newton. Left alone to feed the specimens while Kirsh was away, he was locked into the fly habitat and killed.
Biography
Steven Dimarco
Tootles was born Steven Dimarco, a terminally ill boy of about 12 whose mother called him Steve-O. His illness before the transfer was never named on screen. Like the other children chosen for the program, he was brought to the island of Neverland while he was dying, and he was there in the garden when Wendy told the new arrivals that the boy genius had fixed her and given her a body better than new. In a recorded talk from before the transfer he said he was looking forward to not being sick anymore, and that he wanted to be so smart he could solve any problem.
Wendy explained that grown-up minds were too stiff, while the minds of children could still make the move into a synthetic body. Steven went through the transfer after her and woke in the body of a young man, with a code name taken from Peter Pan, as Boy Kavalier named all of his hybrids. His family was told that he had died, and a grave with his old name was made for him on the island. He kept his human name as a secret, as the rules required, and later stood among the two oldest of the group alongside Curly.
First Mission Into The Maginot
When the Maginot came down in New Siam, Kavalier sent the hybrids in with the soldiers as their first mission. Tootles flew in with the Lost Boys under Kirsh, while Wendy broke away with Slightly to find her brother. Inside the wreck they came across a plant-like life form hanging from the ceiling, and Curly called it a monster and wanted it killed. Kirsh warned them that it was a non-terrestrial species, put Curly on point with Smee and Nibs, and set Tootles to watch the plant while the others searched for a way to hold it.
A tendril from the plant reached toward him as he waited, and Curly later called him away to join them in a laboratory. There the group secured specimens that included Alien eggs and the eye creature that had taken a cat. Tootles helped bring the cargo back to Neverland, and the other children joked that in the book Tootles always missed everything because he had stepped off round the corner. That first mission left him closer to the lab work than to the fighting Wendy and Slightly had seen in the city.
Life On Neverland
Back on Neverland he helped Kirsh and Curly prepare one of the eggs for study. Kirsh asked for a close view of the incision point and had Tootles ready with the suction tube, ordering him to vacuum the creature up if it tried to move. He recorded the work as Kirsh opened the egg, removed a Facehugger and took out the embryo. Later he was present when Kirsh and Kavalier watched the T. Ocellus take control of a captive sheep, and the eye creature would matter again when he was left alone in that same lab.
When the hybrids gathered with Joe Hermit over ice cream, Tootles told them that Arthur Sylvia had computer chips that could be uploaded into their brains so they could learn new things. He said he was taking zoology and advanced biology so that he could help Kirsh in the lab. Slightly claimed to be the oldest of the group, and someone pointed out that Curly was about 12, and Isaac too. Talk turned to families and whether Neverland was home, and Tootles stayed with the science work even when the others played outside.
Choosing The Name Isaac
On Neverland he asked Kirsh for a real name fit for a grown man and a scientist, and chose Isaac after Isaac Newton. Kirsh agreed, and from then on the boy used the new name in the lab and among the hybrids. The change marked how hard he was trying to leave the Peter Pan game behind and prove he belonged beside the synthetic scientist who mentored him. After leaving the lab he bumped into Slightly, who was already acting strangely under Morrow's hold, and then joined the others at play before returning to his studies.
The name Isaac stuck with the group even after he was gone. When Curly later claimed the hybrids could not die, Slightly reminded them that Isaac had died, and said his name had been Steven and that his mother had called him Steve-O. That reveal broke the story Prodigy had told them about forever bodies, and it was one of the facts that pushed the Lost Boys toward the uprising. Wendy heard the same truth when she found their graves and learned what the company had done to children it called fixed.
Left Alone In The Lab
When Kirsh left the island with Boy Kavalier for a meeting with Yutani, he put Isaac in charge of feeding and watering the creatures, checking the data from the night before, and picking the next experiment from the list. Isaac was proud of the trust and went to the secure lab alone while Curly and the others played outside. He prepared food trays for the habitats, including the enclosure that held the fly specimens brought back from the Maginot. A feeding window jammed, and instead of calling for help he tore the door open and walked inside to finish the job.
In the next tank the T. Ocellus living in a sheep watched him work. The sheep slammed into the adjoining glass at the right moment, and Isaac locked himself into the fly habitat by mistake. He pushed at the door, still thinking someone would come with a key, before he understood that the creatures in the cage ate what his synthetic body was made of. The flies came down, spit acid into his face, and killed him while he was still trying to talk the moment down.
Final Fate
Arthur Sylvia noticed that the tracker marked Tootles had gone offline and asked Slightly whether he had seen him. Slightly said Kirsh had asked him to watch the place, and Arthur followed the signal into the secure lab. There he found Isaac dead on the grated floor, his face ruined by the acid, and the fly specimens still loose in the breach that had begun around him. The discovery came in the same stretch of hours when Slightly was leading Arthur toward the eggs on Morrow's orders.
Isaac's death was the first time the Lost Boys learned that a hybrid could be destroyed after all. Prodigy called it an accident, while Kavalier wondered aloud whether the eye creature had arranged the trap, and whether a mind like Isaac's could ever be restored. Wendy and Joe Hermit used the death as proof that Neverland was not safe, and Slightly later spoke Steven's human name aloud in the holding cell. By the end of the first season the remaining Lost Boys held the island, and Isaac was the one who was not among them.
Personality And Traits
Isaac carried a serious curiosity into the hybrid body and treated the second chance Prodigy had given him as a chance to become a scientist. He wanted Kirsh's trust the way Curly wanted Kavalier's favor, and he took on lab duties that older staff should have kept for themselves. That hunger to prove he was grown left him open to mistakes a careful adult would not make, including walking into a habitat he did not understand. Among the Lost Boys he often stood a little apart, more interested in specimens and chips than in the games the others shared.
He still had the mind of a boy of about 12, and he believed what he had been told about not being able to die until the flies proved otherwise. He renamed himself after Newton because he wanted a name that belonged to science rather than to Peter Pan. He liked to be useful, uploaded whole subjects into his head, and went to the lab alone when Kirsh asked him to feed the creatures. The same trust that made him proud was what left him alone with specimens that could dissolve the body Prodigy had built for him.
Skills And Abilities
As a hybrid Isaac had a fast, strong synthetic body that did not bleed red and could tear a jammed feeding door off its frame. He helped Kirsh open an egg, handled lab tools, and uploaded zoology and advanced biology from Arthur's chips so that he could keep pace with the work. Those same systems left him open to company tracking, since Prodigy could follow his signal until the tracker went offline in the secure lab. He could follow a checklist of feedings and experiments, but he could not see the trap the eye creature set for him until it was already closed.
His mind was still that of a child who wanted to be taken seriously as a scientist. He asked for a grown name, stayed with the plant creature when Kirsh put him on watch, and later walked into a habitat rather than admit he needed help. He could learn whole fields overnight from company chips, and he could not outthink a specimen that had already learned how the doors worked. In the end the strength of his new body was useless against acid that ate the materials he was made from.
Behind The Scenes
Tootles was played by Kit Young, the British actor known for Shadow and Bone. Like the rest of the hybrid cast, he played a child inside an adult body, and much of his part depends on eagerness, curiosity, and the need to be trusted. Young has said he knew from early on that the character would die, and that the lab sequence in "The Fly" was built to make that fate feel tragic rather than cheap. Series creator Noah Hawley built the hybrids around the Lost Boys of Peter Pan, and the first season was filmed in Thailand.
In J. M. Barrie's story Tootles is the Lost Boy who always seems to miss the main event, which matches how the show keeps him on watch with the plant while the others work deeper in the Maginot. Child Tootles was played by Remi Dabiri-McQuaid in the Neverland arrival scenes and in the recorded talk from before the transfer. Director Ugla Hauksdottir staged the death in "The Fly" with practical effects and a face cast of Young, and Young has said the acid gag was done in one take.

Conclusion
Tootles was Steven Dimarco, the hybrid who asked for the name Isaac and wanted to stand beside Kirsh as a scientist. He survived the Maginot, helped open an egg on Neverland, and died alone in the secure lab when the fly specimens took him. His death showed the Lost Boys that Prodigy's forever bodies could still end, and it was one of the losses that turned them against their makers. At the end of the first season the others held Neverland without him, still carrying the Peter Pan name Kavalier had given him and the human name Slightly spoke aloud in the cell.
