Prince Predator: The Aliens vs. Predator 2 Yautja Profile

By | Published November 27, 2025

Prince was a successful Yautja hunter who appeared as the main Predator protagonist in the classic video game Aliens versus Predator 2. He was portrayed as a young but high ranking warrior, with a royal standing in the Yautja society. His actions shaped much of the conflict on the planet LV-1201, which involved the Weyland-Yutani Corporation mercenaries, Colonial Marines, and a big Xenomorph outbreak. Prince belonged to a clan of experienced hunters that had tracked human activity for decades prior to the events of the game.

The Predator Prince

Prince held the rank of Elite within Yautja society, which indicated that he had completed numerous hunts and survived challenges that would have defeated lesser warriors. Human researchers studied his mask during his captivity and concluded that he must have possessed an unusually high status due to the level of technology integrated into his equipment. The ship that he arrived on also looked different from any seen in Predator lore, with a golden ornamental dagger shape. Other Yautja encountered during the campaign displayed gestures of respect toward him, which reinforced the idea that Prince stood above most of his peers.

Hunt On Korari

Nearly two decades before the main events, Prince and his clan attacked a Weyland-Yutani outpost on the jungle moon known as Korari. During the assault, Prince fought a Colonial Marine officer named Vassili Rykov and left him permanently injured. This encounter created a lasting resentment that continued to influence Rykov's decisions years later. Rykov quit the USCM, worked himself up as a leader of the Iron Bears, a mercenary unit employed by Weyland-Yutani, and wanted revenge.

In the year 2230, the clan of Prince intercepted a transmission from an Ancient Yautja who had been observing the growing human presence on LV-1201 (events from AvP 2: Primal Hunt expansion). Believing that humans had disturbed sacred hunting grounds, Prince and his companions traveled to the colony to confront the trespassers. Once on the planet, they discovered that the Forward Observation Pods and surrounding territories were filled with heavily armed humans and research personnel. Prince began eliminating guards and combat synthetics in order to recover control of the hunting area. His efforts were interrupted when Weyland-Yutani deployed an electromagnetic trap that incapacitated him and allowed Rykov to claim his mask as a trophy.

Capture And Escape

Prince was transported to a secure holding area where scientists planned extensive tests intended to reveal the capabilities of Yautja biology and weapon systems. Their research ended abruptly when a Xenomorph drone (the Alien protagonist) infiltrated the laboratory and killed the lead scientist, creating the opening Prince needed to break free. A nearby Marine (the human protagonist) unknowingly activated systems that assisted his escape by unlocking doors and disabling containment fields. Prince quickly retrieved much of his equipment except for his Smart Disc, which had been removed for examination. He then seized control of a dropship and caused it to crash in a region filled with Xenomorphs, forcing him to battle drones, runners, and two Predaliens.

Prince vs. Xenomorphs In The Hive

After rejoining the clan, Prince received additional weapons and prepared to enter the deepest parts of the hive beneath the colony, fused with ancient Engineer ruins. The tunnels were dominated by Praetorians and fully developed Xenomorph warriors who attacked in large numbers. Prince advanced steadily through the biomass-covered passages, clearing sections of the hive that had overwhelmed human security forces. His campaign reached its peak when he confronted a Xenomorph Queen and fought her in a chamber reinforced by resin structures and protective drone positions. Prince ultimately killed the Queen, securing an important trophy and proving his mastery of Yautja hunting traditions.

Final Fight With Vassili Rykov

When the hive had been largely neutralized, Prince redirected his attention toward Vassili Rykov, whose earlier capture of the Yautja mask represented a grave insult. Rykov had equipped himself with a heavy exosuit designed to withstand alien attacks and had prepared for the possibility of a Predator assault. Prince pursued him through industrial corridors, underground tunnels, and research structures that still contained scattered Xenomorph threats. The confrontation ended when Prince destroyed the exosuit, defeated Rykov, and claimed his spine as a final trophy. This act concluded the rivalry that had begun decades earlier on Korari. Satisfied with the results, Prince then left LV-1201 with his trophy.

Weapons And Equipment

The armor of Prince Predator

Prince relied on a variety of traditional Yautja weapons, including wristblades, a combi stick, a shoulder cannon, a plasma Pistol, a spear gun, and a netgun. The Smart Disc that had been taken during his capture was one of the few pieces of gear he did not recover during his escape. After regrouping with his clan, Prince restored his full combat capability and continued using equipment optimized for close quarters and long range engagements within the hive and human facilities. One of Prince's unique pieces of equipment was the Energy Sift Device, capable of fully restoring the Predator's energy. In combination with the medicomp, he had unlimited supply of energy and health. Prince could also use his wrist gauntlet to short-circuit human computer systems, basically hacking them.

Other Predator Princes

Presumably, a Predator Prince is the son of the Predator King and his concubine (either the Matriarch or the Predator Queen). A King can have several sons, and the brothers are usually in conflict with each other, trying to win their father's favor. The oldest (or perhaps the worthiest) Prince would become the future Predator King. Two Predator Princes appear in the Predator vs. Black Panther comic, where the weaker son travels to Wakanda to obtain large quantities of vibranium (the Godmetal). He is defeated by the Black Panther, but the vibranium reaches his father and brother.

Conclusion

Prince emerged as one of the most renowned Yautja hunters associated with Predator and Aliens vs. Predator games. His actions included successful hunts against humans, Xenomorphs, Praetorians, Predaliens, and a fully grown Queen, which placed him among the most accomplished warriors of his era. The final defeat of Vassili Rykov in a mech suit resolved a long-standing conflict that had shaped both of their lives. Unfortunately, Prince has not been featured elsewhere in Yautja lore, nor has a figure been created from him.
