Ca'toll was a female Yautja hunting captain in Weston Ochse and Yvonne Navarro's Aliens vs. Predators: Rift War. In training she had been Mei-Jadhi Kaail, Sister Rage, the blooding partner and sister of the seeder Ar'Wen. On LV-363 she took three unblooded into the rifts, ran the hunt after both other captains died, and left for the mothership with a Xenowing head and three living young bloods.

Sister Rage

Before she held the name Ca'toll, she trained as Mei-Jadhi Kaail. The brood called her Sister Rage. She and Ar'Wen were paired as blood siblings and as a battle pair, and in the combat pits she beat more unblooded than anyone else in that group. Other trainees treated her as a threat after she proved she could take a fight empty-handed and finish it with a stolen combistick.

Males and females were supposed to train on the same terms, and she was the only unblooded female Ar'Wen had known. T'U'Sa later treated her hunting-captain rank as a ceiling because she was female, and he used that as a reason to push for elite status.

Unfinished Blooding

Vai'ke later treated her as a bad blood and accused her of never finishing her own blooding. The charge was true, and a rescue team had found her injured and covered in blood. The clan had treated her as blooded, and she later admitted to a hunt captain that the ceremony was incomplete. A court had already heard that account. Ar'Wen's indicator lights had gone dark on that same hunt, and the clan treated him as dead. Their parents held his funeral and then refused them both, and that is what put the siblings against each other.

The LV-363 Hunt

Ca'toll landed on LV-363 under the former Battlemaster Ny'ytap, with T'U'Sa as the other hunting captain. Her three students were the female Hetah, the large Ptah'Ra, and the thick-waisted Sta'kta. Ny'ytap ordered the party to avoid the humans harvesting Khatura on the rim, and she left an armored man alone when she spotted him during a tree-running drill.

Ca'toll took her three down the rift wall, left a juvenile Xenomorph that had already killed a harvester, and later killed another juvenile with combistick and wristblades. She thawed a frozen egg on the hunt ship so they could see a Facehugger lock onto a local host, then killed both to show that implantation could not be reversed. After a Xenowing killed T'U'Sa, she absorbed his students and held their blooding until she decided they had earned it.

Hetah, Cau'dki, and U'Brea'Sua died when adult Xenomorphs hit the forward camp at night. Ny'ytap died after a Xenowing took him from the farewell with his bio-helmet off. On the rift floor Vai'ke pushed Sta'kta into a plasmacaster blast, and Ca'toll marked that as murder. She killed a large Xenowing there by cutting its neck from below.

Ar'Wen

Ar'Wen had not died on that earlier hunt. He had seeded the rifts and stayed fifteen years because he treated her as the partner who had left him for dead after his indicator lights went dark. He attacked her from cloak on the rift floor, and Vai'ke stood aside. After that fight she gutted T'See'Ka when he treated her honor as worthless and wanted to leave Ny'ytap's remains for the animals. She put T'See'Ka's death down as combat, then cut the Xenowing's head so her ceremonial dagger would carry Xenomorph blood rather than Yautja blood.

At the hull Vai'ke tried to arrest her, then lunged, and she put a combistick through his neck. Ar'Wen came out of cloak with an electrified double-bladed stick. Before they fought, she gave the three remaining young the account a court had already heard, that Ar'Wen had been hungry for the fight and had refused to leave. Three Xenowings dove during that last fight, and two of them hauled Ar'Wen into the air. The fall smashed him against the ship, and acid from the killing blows opened his torso. She pulled him free too late.

What She Took Home

Ca'toll put the dead, including Ar'Wen, into cryogenic chambers and set course for the mothership. Ptah'Ra, Ba'sta, and Stea'Pua were the only unblooded who lived. She left the living Xenowings on LV-363 for later bloodings rather than burn the world, because other human mining sites sat too far away to treat as prey. She expected to answer the elders for the death count and for the old confession about her unfinished blooding.

Appearance And Weapons

Vai'ke was the largest of the unblooded and almost as large as Ca'toll, so she stood among the bigger hunters on that trip. Her voice was sharp and low. She and her students wore red, gray, and white in an oscillating camouflage pattern, and all twelve hunters wore the clan symbol of the Judone Tree. Hunting captains could cloak their armor, and the unblooded could not, by clan order.

Ca'toll used a targeting oculator in her bio-helmet, descended rift walls without a cable, and fought with a telescoping combistick and wristblades. She planted a plasmacaster on the rift floor for the young to pass down, and she carried a ceremonial dagger that she wanted marked with Xenomorph blood rather than Yautja blood.

Confirmed Kills

Her named kills on LV-363 were few, and she left the humans out of the hunt by order.

She killed a juvenile Xenomorph on the rift floor and took its head as a first trophy. She left the juvenile that killed the harvester Khaleed.
She killed a large Xenowing on the rift floor and took its head after T'See'Ka died.
She gutted T'See'Ka for treating her honor as worthless.
She killed Vai'ke at the ship after he tried to arrest her.

Similar Predators

Ca'toll belonged with other named huntresses who led fights rather than with clan speakers. Hashori of the Widow Clan survived the Rage War and left Macbeth with human companions. Vagouti hunted on Earth with her mate and died in an Oregon rematch. Big Mama was another large female hunter from earlier AvP stories, built for the hunt rather than for a throne. On LV-363 the only other female was Hetah, who died in the night attack on the forward camp.

Conclusion

Ca'toll was the hunting captain who ran the LV-363 blooding after Ny'ytap and T'U'Sa died. She killed T'See'Ka and Vai'ke, lost Ar'Wen to the Xenowings he had planted, and left for the mothership with a Xenowing trophy and three living young bloods. The elders still had her unfinished blooding to judge when she got home.
