Donatiki: The Predator Who Gave Birth On The Hunt

Donatiki was a female Yautja survey leader in Robert Greenberger's Field Trip, collected in Predator: Eyes of the Demon in 2022. In October of the 2020s she brought four unblooded to Earth to watch humans, not to hunt them. After the scout ship crashed near a Battle of Hastings reenactment in England, labor started in the middle of the fight. She left with a living newborn after Jessica Haning helped the birth.

Biography

The Earth Survey

The clan sent Donatiki to Earth in late pregnancy with four unblooded: Tenude, the eldest, then Felke, Ekenke, and Ionige. The job was a five-day look at terrain and human cultures, a last lesson before those four joined a hunting party for first blood. She had hunted on Earth before, including a large white beast in the arctic, and she wanted the child born off-world so she could nurse it, wean it, and return to the hunt.

Crash Near Hastings

Engine relays misfired on the scout ship and forced a descent. Donatiki kept power on the cloak and life support, then set down about a twenty-minute walk from a large cluster of human life signs. She was not sure the distress call reached the mothership.

Ekenke wanted to start killing at once. Tenude treated an unsanctioned attack as slaughter without honor, and he argued that kills without a Leader to confirm them would not count. Donatiki wanted sanctioned kills of hard meat, not a massacre of people in costume, and she ordered watch-only practice.

The life signs were a Battle of Hastings reenactment in October, with about 3,400 people registered and more than a thousand on the field. Jessica Haning, a hospital administrator in her eighth month, was there with her husband Colin. The unblooded saw blunted swords, campfires, and fighters who fell without dying on their scanners. Donatiki treated it as costume war games. Ionige dropped his cloak after he saw Jessica, then treated a pregnant woman as an unworthy target.

Ionige Breaks Discipline

Lawrence walked into the trees to relieve himself and came within arm's reach of the hidden group. Donatiki signaled them to freeze. Ionige cut Lawrence's throat with a short wristblade anyway. Tenude treated the kill as unworthy. Donatiki dragged Ionige back, struck his helmet, and ordered the others to kill only if they had no other choice. Felke treated the child as the reason she held them back, but she was protecting both.

Labor In The Fight

Once Ionige had killed, the other three rushed the camp and Donatiki lost control of them. One of them cut Olivia across the belly. A man hit Donatiki's maternity armor with a sword, and she broke his arm. Labor started after that, and she collapsed on her back. None of the unblooded knew field medicine. She had left her combistick and plasmacaster on the scout ship. She meant to keep the Black Warrior from taking the child.

Ekenke had brought a speargun on a survey, and humans pulled it from him after they beat him down. A man used it on Felke, first in the leg, then through the neck under the helmet after a burning stick hit the visor. Tenude held several humans with wristblades, and Ionige was the other hunter on his feet. Crossbow bolts bounced off their armor, and the camp then used fire, liquor, and cooking fuel to knock the last two down.

The Birth

Jessica came over with a carving knife, then put it down when Donatiki raised a longer wristblade and then drew it back. Jessica and Lily stripped the lower maternity armor and exposed pale yellow skin. Donatiki kept both hands on the bio-helmet when Jessica reached for it. Charles and Paul tried to stop the birth. Other women stood between them, and Colin joined that line.

The newborn was about a foot long and narrow, with mandibles held tight to the face. It came out coated in a blue fluid and tied to an umbilical cord. Colin cut the cord, and Lily tied it. The child made no sound, then opened its mandibles and breathed. Jessica put it on Donatiki's breast, and it started to nurse. Donatiki took a pain drug from her medical kit, opened part of the chest armor, and held the child. Jessica treated the infant as a boy.

Rescue

Four more Yautja reached the field before the local police, and they were not hunting. They picked up the downed unblooded and took Donatiki and the infant into the woods without speaking to the humans. Jessica and Colin lived. Felke was dead, and the rescue party carried the other three off the field.

Appearance And Weapons

Donatiki wore maternity armor with flexible golden scale plates that rolled off the legs. A blunted sword did nothing useful against that plate. Her wristblades were longer than the unblooded's. She hunted cloaked, used helmet vision to watch the fight, and kept a medical kit stocked for the birth. Her combistick and plasmacaster stayed on the ship.

Similar Predators

Donatiki belonged with named huntresses who led unblooded, not only with lone Earth hunters. A'kael took three first-hunters to Earth during a clan-leader test. Ca'toll ran the LV-363 blooding after both other captains died. Vagouti hunted on Earth with her mate and died in an Oregon rematch. Ak'kili hunted three bad bloods on a desert world and killed her son Dakdwade.

Conclusion

Donatiki was the pregnant survey leader who landed near a Hastings reenactment with four unblooded and forbade killing. Labor took her out of the fight, Jessica and Colin helped the birth, and a rescue party lifted her and the newborn before the police arrived.
