Ak'kili was a female Yautja enforcer in Kim May's Bitter Hunt, collected in Predator: Eyes of the Demon in 2022. She followed three bad bloods to a desert world with her hound Xave after they killed unarmed females and young. The last of the three was her son Dakdwade. She killed all three, took their heads, and left with clan standing restored.

Biography

The Assignment

Ak'kili was sent after three bad bloods who had killed unarmed females and young on several worlds. The leader was her son Dakdwade, a hunter she had trained. The others were Twakese and a third male she later knew only as one of Dakdwade's hunt-mates. That break of the first honor law stained her clan, and her mate would not look at her after that. She had spent a long stretch on the homeworld, and she understood why Enforcers disliked hunting other Yautja: the prey used the same weapons and the same training.

The Scout Ship

The trio left their scout ship in orbit with the pod-bay doors open. Ak'kili knew the leader's passwords, dropped the shields on the fifth try, and put a plasma blast into the fuel tanks. The hull blew apart, and a singed human skull drifted out of the trophy vault. She set a new code on her own scout ship that would wreck the hull if they used an old one. No other hunter ship sat within light years.

She landed beside the nearest drop pod in a red-stone valley under an orange sky, with mountain ranges on both sides and an extinct volcano farther on. The days were hot enough for Yautja, and the nights were cold enough to kill without mesh netting. The three had split up, which was the tactic she had taught their leader.

The Unnamed Hunt-Mate

Xave tracked the nearest hunter west toward the foothills. A plasmacaster shot from a ridge almost hit Ak'kili on the open valley floor, where her skin pattern did not match the stone. She sent the hound at him as a feint, put a smart disc through his throat, and burned the chest and torso with her plasmacaster. She recognized the face as one of Dakdwade's hunt-mates and could not recall the name. A ceremonial dagger finished the head, and she sent Xave back to her drop pod with the trophy.

Twakese

The next hunt ran across basalt near an extinct lava tube, without the hound. Twakese threw a smart disc at her head. She jammed it into stone so the recall would fail, and he blasted that disc with his own plasmacaster rather than leave it for her. Her disc then hit his chest plate hard enough to break ribs. She closed in while he was cloaked, cut him below the plate with wristblades, and put the dagger into his lower abdomen. Green blood came out of the wound.

Twakese did not regret killing unarmed females and young. She kicked him over and took the head. Xave ran in, seized the trophy by the locks, and dragged it toward the pods before she could stop him. Twakese had an identical twin, and only a crescent scar on the chin told them apart. She needed that scar for the elders, and dragging the head on the rocks would wreck it.

Dakdwade

Dakdwade tried old codes on her pod to draw her in, because Xave was running straight toward him. She had meant to leave the hound behind for this fight. At the landing site Xave sat at Dakdwade's feet. She picked up Twakese's head on the way in, then netted Xave against a drop-pod landing gear with her net gun so he would not take a side.

Dakdwade treated the unarmed dead as ordinary prey. She treated that as the first law she had taught him, and she would not bargain. Their discs met in the open. His older disc had to return before he could throw again, and she used that pause to put her own disc into the tendon behind his left heel. He slashed her left bicep. She smashed the self-destruct controls on his wrist gauntlet, opened the thigh of his good leg, and drove a wristblade through his windpipe. The disc ended it, and she took his head.

Final Fate

Ak'kili left the desert world alive with Xave and the three heads. She freed the hound and did not try to ease him. She carried Dakdwade's head to her drop pod with Twakese's, and clan standing would be restored. The sunset alarm on her bio-helmet flashed one hour of daylight left.

Appearance And Weapons

Ak'kili hunted in mesh netting meant for arctic cold, which she treated as enough for one desert night. Her usual kit was a plasmacaster, a net gun, a smart disc on a thigh mount, wristblades, energy flechettes in the gauntlet, and a ceremonial dagger for the heads. Her skin pattern did not hide her on red stone, so speed did more for her on the open valley than camouflage.

Her confirmed kills in Bitter Hunt were three Yautja:
