These are the Alien books that work as references rather than novels: field guides and roleplaying rules that name the Colonial Marines, the guns, the ships, and the colonies. Lee Brimmicombe-Wood's Aliens Colonial Marines Technical Manual (1995) is the in-universe Corps guide for fiscal year 2179. Leading Edge Games published the Aliens Adventure Game in 1991, a strike-team campaign for the year of Aliens. Free League followed with Alien: The Roleplaying Game in 2019, revised as the Evolved Edition in 2025, and the Colonial Marines Operations Manual in 2021 for Marine play in 2183 and 2184. Novel lines such as Bantam Spectra and Titan Books stay in their own lists.
