Bonegrill was a male Yautja from the Isolated Clan who appeared in Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem aboard the Scout Ship that left Earth in October 2004, after Scar Predator's body was recovered from Bouvet Island. Shortly before disaster struck the vessel, he was shown in the ship's trophy room skinning a Xenomorph head with a Flaying Tool while mounted skulls and spines from earlier hunts lined the chamber walls. Unknown to the crew, the Chestburster implanted in Scar during Alien vs. Predator had survived retrieval and matured into an adult Predalien aboard the ship. Bonegrill became the first Yautja to encounter the hybrid—and its first victim.
Bonegrill's Equipment
Like many Blooded Yautja hunters, Bonegrill carried standard Predator weapons and equipment aboard the Scout Ship. His gear included a bio-mask, wrist gauntlet, wristblades, plasmacaster, self-destruct device, and a specialized Flaying Tool used for preparing trophies. The Flaying Tool was briefly seen while he skinned a Xenomorph head inside the trophy chamber. Bonegrill's armor and mask design matched the darker metallic aesthetic used by the Isolated Clan in Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. His appearance helped reinforce the industrial and grim visual style of the Scout Ship interiors.
Death At The Hands Of The Predalien
While Bonegrill worked in the trophy room, the Predalien silently appeared behind him. The hybrid creature grabbed the Yautja by the head and killed him with a brutal headbite. His blood splattered across the mounted Xenomorph trophy he had been skinning moments earlier. Bonegrill's screams echoed through the ship and alerted his clan mate Bull that something aboard the vessel had gone wrong. His death marked the beginning of the Scout Ship massacre. The Predalien continued hunting the remaining Yautja crew members before the damaged vessel crashed into the forests outside Gunnison, Colorado. This event directly started the outbreak seen throughout Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. As seen in a deleted scene, the Predalien skinned Bonegrill and hung him up in the ship.
Bonegrill's Role With The Trophy Wall
The Scout Ship's trophy room contained what was arguably the most impressive trophy wall ever shown in Yautja lore. The chamber displayed enormous alien skulls and preserved remains collected from countless hunts across multiple worlds. Among the visible trophies were the skull of a Xenomorph Queen, a Triceratops head, and even what appeared to be an Engineer trophy mounted within the chamber. These trophies demonstrated the incredible range of species hunted by the Yautja clan and reinforced the idea that the Scout Ship belonged to highly experienced hunters with centuries of accumulated victories. As the apparent caretaker of the chamber, Bonegrill was likely responsible for cleaning, preserving, and maintaining some of the rarest trophies ever seen aboard a Predator vessel.
Bonegrill's Bio-Mask
The Bone Grill Predator's biomask featured one of the strangest and most skeletal designs ever created for a Yautja helmet. Unlike traditional smooth metallic Predator masks, the Bone Grill mask appeared to use layered bone fragments and fang-like structures across the mouth area, giving it a ritualistic and almost tribal appearance. The lower grille section especially resembled interlocking bone fingers or elongated phalanges wrapped across the mask's mandibles. The design became popular among collectors after Sideshow Collectibles released a full-scale Bone Grill Predator Mask replica in partnership with Amalgamated Dynamics Inc. (ADI). The Bone Grill Predator Mask Prop Replica measured over 16 inches tall and featured LED targeting lights.
Conclusion
Bonegrill was a Blooded Yautja from the Isolated Clan who served aboard the Scout Ship in Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. While skinning a Xenomorph trophy inside the ship's trophy room, he became the first victim of the newborn Predalien that had secretly emerged from Scar's corpse. His death triggered the massacre aboard the vessel and directly led to the Gunnison outbreak seen throughout the film. Despite his short appearance, Bonegrill played an important role in establishing the Predalien as one of the deadliest hybrid creatures in the Alien and Predator franchise.
