Nightstorm Predator: The First Super Predator

Nightstorm Predator was an ancient Super Predator Elder who became one of the most important figures in expanded Predator lore. Also known as the Scarab Predator, Nightstorm lived thousands of years ago and hunted on Earth during the age of Ancient Egypt. Unlike traditional Yautja, he rejected the Yautja Honor Code and believed prey should be given no unnecessary advantage. His actions helped trigger the ancient feud between regular Yautja and Super Predators, making him a legendary and feared Elder among both factions.

The Nightstorm Predator

Nightstorm stood over seven feet tall and had blue skin, blue eyes, black dreadlocks, and an intimidating royal appearance. His most recognizable feature was his gold-plated armor, which gave him the appearance of an ancient warlord rather than a standard hunter. He wore an Anubis-themed Predator bio-mask that exposed his mandibles through openings on the sides. This Egyptian-inspired design connected Nightstorm visually to his ancient Earth hunting grounds and helped make him one of the most distinctive Predators from the toy lines.

Nightstorm Weapons And Equipment

Nightstorm carried several ornate and customized Predator weapons. His equipment included elongated wristblades, a golden Plasmacaster, and a staff-like Combistick topped with a skull. His weapons matched his golden armor and gave him a ceremonial, almost pharaoh-like battlefield presence. Although his gear originated from toy line designs, the later NECA version expanded the character into a more serious figure within Predator mythology.

Ancient Egypt And The First Xenomorph Hunts

Nightstorm Predator hunting in Ancient Egypt

Nightstorm was said to have been present on Earth around 4000 years ago during one of the earliest known Earth-based Xenomorph hunts. During this period, Yautja visited Ancient Egypt and hunted Xenomorphs among human civilizations. Nightstorm hunted alongside his Yautja cousins but disagreed with their hunting customs. He believed the Honor Code gave prey too much freedom and weakened the hunter. This ideological split eventually pushed him away from traditional Yautja society.

The Yautja And Super Predator Feud

Nightstorm Predator as a Super Predator Elder

Nightstorm eventually separated from the traditional Yautja and attempted to unite the Super Predators under his own leadership. This decision helped begin the long feud between the Yautja and Super Predators, a conflict that lasted for millennia. To the Super Predators, Nightstorm became a legendary Elder who represented strength, dominance, and freedom from the restrictions of the Honor Code. To many traditional Yautja, especially those connected to Jungle Hunter culture, he was remembered as a devil-like figure. This made Nightstorm one of the few Predators whose influence extended far beyond his own lifetime.

Connection To Scavage Predator

Nightstorm was also connected to Scavage Predator, a later half-breed Predator descended from his bloodline. This detail made Nightstorm more than just a visually striking Elder, as his legacy continued through later generations of Super Predator-related characters. Scavage's connection to Nightstorm helped reinforce the idea that Nightstorm was an ancient patriarch figure whose influence shaped the future of the Super Predator lineage. Through this ancestry, Nightstorm remained tied to the larger conflict between honorable Yautja hunters and more brutal Predator offshoots.

Kenner And NECA Origins

Nightstorm Predator originally appeared as a Kenner Predator figure in 1993. The original toy included a harpoon-style weapon and represented one of the more unusual Predator designs from the Kenner era. NECA later redesigned Nightstorm for Series 10 of its Predator line, giving him a more detailed appearance, stronger Egyptian influence, and expanded lore. This updated version helped transform Nightstorm from a colorful toy concept into one of the most important historical Super Predators in expanded Predator canon.

Cleopatra Predator from Predator: Hunting Grounds

Nightstorm was not the only Egyptian-inspired Predator in expanded lore. Cleopatra Predator from Predator: Hunting Grounds also used ornate gold armor and royal Egyptian aesthetics, becoming known for defeating Dutch Schaefer in Laos. Another notable example was the Anubis Predator, a jackal-themed Yautja variant inspired by the Egyptian god Anubis that appeared in Predator toy lines and expanded universe material. Egyptian themes became especially popular among themed Predators because the ancient armor, ceremonial weapons, and regal imagery naturally fit the Yautja warrior culture.

Conclusion

Nightstorm Predator was one of the most influential Super Predators in expanded Predator lore. As an ancient Elder who hunted in Egypt, rejected the Yautja Honor Code, and helped ignite the feud between Yautja and Super Predators, he occupied a rare place in the history of the species. His golden armor, Anubis-themed bio-mask, blue skin, and skull-topped staff made him visually unforgettable. Although he originated as a toy line character, Nightstorm became a legendary figure whose actions shaped the history of the Predator race for thousands of years.
