Smiley was the name Shane Burroughs's camp gave a silver-armored Yautja in Mike Kennedy and Roger Robinson's Alien vs. Predator: Civilized Beasts. The graphic novel, a Dark Horse Books release from March 2008, continues Alien vs. Predator: Thrill of the Hunt eight months after hunters destroyed the colonists' ship and left the survivors on the planet. He led a hunting clan in the woods around that camp, and he let the colonists watch him hunt instead of taking the armed people as prey. On the third of those hunts they wounded an adult Xenomorph, and he killed it, then left the weapons they were carrying. He later fought a Xenomorph Queen in a stepped temple and came out missing his right eye, with the Queen's tail in his hand.
Biography
The Third Hunt
On an unnamed colony planet, in the tall grass around Shane Burroughs's camp, Smiley watched the survivors eight months after his clan wrecked their ship. The woods on the colony were full of Xenomorphs, and he wore silver plates and gold mesh, with skulls across his chest. A Facehugger had taken one of the colonists in that same grass. He hunted the Xenomorphs and left the armed people their guns, so the camp lived beside him.
He had let them watch two hunts before this one. On the third, the camp wounded an adult Xenomorph and could not finish it, so Smiley killed it, the first time he helped them and the first time they had needed him. After the kill he sprayed a green mist that worked on the colonists like a drug, and when someone thanked him he repeated that person's insult in the same words.
Smiley's Clan
The other hunters were not as close to the camp as Smiley was. Since the ship was wrecked they had been killing Xenomorphs in the grass, and he was the one who came near enough for the colonists to name. They dealt with him, and they did not think he would let them onto the ground where the rest of the clan hunted.
When the hunters met there, one of them set a hand on Smiley's shoulder and shook it, the greeting that clan used, while the others stood over dead Xenomorphs with spears and shoulder cannons. His armor was silver and gold, with skulls worked into the plates, the same suit the camp had seen when he watched them from the tall grass.
The Cage
Smiley's clan held an adult Xenomorph in a cage under an energy field, and the hunters killed the smaller creatures that came to the ground around it. When the field failed, the Xenomorphs poured out over the hunters. Their acid burned through the armor, and many of the clan died in that swarm.
After the swarm broke that hunt, the hunters who lived seized the colonists and took them out of the grass and up into the stepped temple. Someone in the camp called for Charles to do something about it. Shane Burroughs refused to get down.
The Temple Queen
Facehuggers stood on pedestals in the temple. Shane Burroughs recognized them as cargo a warship had been sending down while the clan rebuilt the place. He told the others to wait outside, and Glenda would not go in. A crested Queen, larger than the warriors, came out of the dark. Hunters in the temple fought adult Xenomorphs with spears and wristblades. Shane had the group back out when the Queen filled the doorway. Smiley met her deeper inside, and the Queen was torn apart in that fight.
The Lost Eye
Deeper in the temple, the Queen fight tore into Smiley and took his right eye. He came out wounded, his face and armor covered in blood, and the Queen was torn apart. He stood on a hill with her tail in his hand and watched the humans leave. A ship left the colony as the hunters' warship closed on the horizon, and he remained on the planet when they went, the last of his clan on that ground.
Weapons And Armor
Smiley wore silver plate over gold mesh and a bio-mask, and he carried a spear, a shoulder cannon, and wristblades. Skulls were fixed across the chest. The camp also saw him use a green mist that worked on them like a drug, and he did not take the guns they carried. Roger Robinson drew the plates silver in the grass and darker in the temple fight, with the same skulls on the chest.

Civilized Beasts does not give a kill tally for Smiley, so the count below is a floor from the hunts that can be named. The camp and Smiley share the third-hunt Xenomorph. They wounded it, and he killed it. The temple Queen was torn apart in the fight with him. Adult Xenomorphs in that same fight are uncounted. He did not kill the colonists. The hunters who died in the cage swarm were killed by Xenomorphs, not by him.
