Chibuzo was a science officer on the Weyland-Yutani deep-space research vessel USCSS Maginot in Alien: Earth, played by Karen Aldridge. She worked the specimen zoo with science officer Bronski, cataloguing Facehuggers, T. Ocellus, D. Plumbicare, and the leech-like Species 19 blood ticks on the sixty-five-year collection run. During the final approach to Earth in 2120 she logged tick feeding behavior, lost containment on a tick and the Ocellus, and died in Medbay One with doctor Rahim and apprentice engineer Malachite when Species 19 toxin filled the sealed room.

Biography

Aboard The USCSS Maginot

Chibuzo aboard the USCSS Maginot in Alien: Earth

Chibuzo joined the Maginot before or during its 2055 launch on the company specimen-collection voyage. Her jumpsuit carried a CHIBUZO name tape and a Maginot mission patch, and she held science-officer duty over the captive organisms the ship brought home. That work put her beside Bronski in the zoo lab, where Facehuggers, T. Ocellus, D. Plumbicare, and Species 19 were held under company protocol. She also helped doctor Rahim in medical crises even though she was not the ship medical officer.

Collar footage from the ship's cat Rascal later showed her playing gin rummy with Rahim during a stasis break. On the final approach she was one of the science crew left awake to keep the specimens monitored while engineers fought fuel loss and saboteur damage. Engineer Shmuel treated her zoo as a fuel liability, and chief security officer Kumi Morrow treated it as the mission itself. That split defined how the rest of the Maginot talked about her work.

Four Months From Earth

In 2120, with about four months left to Earth, the changeover crew woke to hear Captain RJ Dinsdale report that comms were down, log files were corrupt, and the ship was burning too much fuel. When Dinsdale asked what systems they could shut down, Shmuel offered to shoot Chibuzo's specimens into space and shut down her zoo. He said the crew had lost good men collecting them, and Malachite agreed the specimens gave him the creeps. Morrow cut the talk short and reminded the table that the specimens were the mission, then Dinsdale went back into cryo and left executive officer Zoya Zaveri in charge of the waking crew.

About seventeen days from Earth a fire in containment fried navigational systems and engine relays and let Facehuggers onto Dinsdale and Bronski. In the medbay Chibuzo explained the attack to Morrow after Rahim's attempt to cut a Facehugger free killed Dinsdale with acid blood. She recited company protocol that any crew member who contacted alien life was to go into cryosleep for the rest of the journey, and she backed putting Bronski under. Morrow then sent her with junior security officer Clem to secure the rest of the zoo while Zaveri took command.

Species 19 Lab

Back in the lab Chibuzo opened Species 19 log 8232 and tested whether the blood ticks would feed on dead tissue after two weeks without food. She placed a dead rat in the jar while T. Ocellus watched from its own container, and one tick began eating the carcass. She told the Ocellus to stop staring and moved its container, but she did not fully lock it in place. While she was distracted the second tick opened its jar, sprayed offspring into her water bottle, and crawled into a sandwich on the counter.

Rahim walked in, found the loose tick, and sealed it back in its container. He told Chibuzo that Zaveri wanted everyone in the mess hall because Bronski was dead. They left together, and the unlocked Ocellus knocked its container free, broke out, and escaped into the Maginot. The infected water bottle stayed on the table for whoever drank next.

Mess Hall Briefing

In the mess hall Chibuzo complained about Teng and Rahim smoking before Zaveri called the room to order. Zaveri told the crew that Bronski was dead, a Xenomorph was loose, fuel was nearly gone, and a saboteur was aboard. She declared a ship-wide emergency and suspended non-duty movement, while Morrow demanded duty rosters, activity logs, and travel in pairs. When Malachite coughed through the briefing, Chibuzo noticed and the apprentice brushed it off as something hot, then drank from the contaminated bottle that had left her lab.

After Zaveri dismissed them, Chibuzo was still arguing about mess-hall smoking and saying that was why she preferred to eat in the lab. The emergency rules left her paired for movement and under Morrow's armed watch like everyone else who was not security. The specimens she had refused to dump were now loose on a ship flying on fumes. That same briefing was the last calm table she shared with the surviving crew.

Tracking With Zaveri

Outside the mess hall Zaveri asked Chibuzo straight out whether she had sabotaged the ship. Chibuzo said no, and Zaveri put her on the hunt for a way to track the Xenomorph. Chibuzo recalled elevated gamma readings from the eggs and thought a Geiger counter could follow that trail. They went back to the zoo lab to rig the search and found the Ocellus container empty.

Power cut in the lab as they realized the eye parasite was loose. Chibuzo and Zaveri retreated and sealed the room, leaving the Ocellus problem for later. Rahim then called them to Medbay One on an urgent channel: Malachite had started vomiting blood and would not wake. The science officer who had logged Species 19 that same day walked straight into the surgery that would kill her.

Tick Surgery And Death

In Medbay One scans showed six dark bodies lining Malachite's esophagus and main artery. Chibuzo prepared a probe for an upper GI scan while Rahim told Zaveri he had to open the apprentice and stop the bleeding. Zaveri authorized the surgery over Morrow's contamination objection, and when the chest was open Chibuzo identified the bodies as Species 19 ticks. Rahim tried to pull one free. The creatures released a toxin that killed Rahim, Chibuzo, and Malachite together in the sealed bay.

Morrow forced Zaveri to seal Medbay One with the dead inside once the toxin hit. Chibuzo never left that room. After the Maginot crashed in Prodigy City, New Siam, Prodigy soldiers found her body with Rahim and Malachite, and Joseph Hermit judged the deaths as toxin suffocation rather than crash trauma. The science officer who had kept the specimens alive for the company died from the same Species 19 offspring that left her lab in a water bottle.

Personality And Traits

Chibuzo spoke like a company science officer who trusted protocol more than improvisation. She recited cryosleep rules over Bronski after the Facehugger attack, logged Species 19 under official entry 8232, and preferred eating in the lab when Teng and Rahim smoked in the mess. Duty kept her on the specimens even when Shmuel wanted the zoo dumped to save fuel, and she answered Zaveri straight when asked if she had sabotaged the Maginot. In the lab she talked to the Ocellus jar like a colleague, then moved it without finishing the lock, which is how the parasite got free. The same distractedness let a Species 19 tick seed her water bottle while she watched the feeding test.

She was not the Maginot doctor, but she still backed Rahim in medbay crises and identified the bodies in Malachite as Species 19 ticks when the chest was open. Fear and focus sat side by side in those beats. She stayed clinical enough to log ticks and suggest a Geiger trail for the Xenomorph, then walked into the sealed surgery that killed her. That mix of lab habit and medical backup made her useful on a ship short of awake specialists. Chibuzo never became the hard company voice Morrow wanted. She stayed the science officer who kept the zoo running until the zoo killed her.

Behind The Scenes

Behind the scenes filming of Maginot crew scenes for Alien: Earth

Karen Aldridge played Chibuzo in three 2025 episodes of Alien: Earth, "Neverland", "Mr. October" and "In Space, No One...". The series credits list the character as a Maginot science officer, and most of her screen time sits in the Episode 5 Maginot flashback opposite Amir Boutrous as Rahim and Richa Moorjani as Zaveri. "Mr. October" uses her as a body found in the wreck rather than as an active speaking role.

Famous Quotes

  • "I'll say it again. The protocols are very clear."
  • "Okay. Species 19. Log 8232."
  • "If the subjects live off oxygen from blood, they won't feed on dead animals, no matter how hungry they get."
  • "Take a picture. It'll last longer."
  • "Subjects have been deprived of food for two weeks."
  • "Interesting. Species 19 will feed on dead tissue if hungry enough."
  • "That's enough out of you."
  • "This is why I eat in the lab."
  • "It's ticks. They're ticks."
  • "Gently."

Conclusion

Chibuzo was the Maginot science officer who kept Species 19 and T. Ocellus under study while the ship burned fuel and lost containment. She logged that starved ticks would eat dead tissue, failed to lock the Ocellus after a distraction, and left an infected water bottle that later killed Malachite from the inside. The surgery meant to save the apprentice killed her with Rahim, and the Maginot flew on without the scientist who had refused to dump the specimens Shmuel wanted in space.
