Alien: Rogue Incursion (2024): Plot, Lore & Game Overview
Alien: Rogue Incursion is a single-player action-horror game developed and published by Survios. The original version was built for VR platforms, while the later Evolved Edition adapted the game for traditional PC and console play. Set between Alien and Aliens, the story follows former Colonial Marine Zula Hendricks and her android partner Davis 01 as they investigate a Gemini Exoplanet Solutions facility overrun by Xenomorphs.
Game Overview
Rogue Incursion is built around first-person survival horror and action rather than squad tactics or co-op shooting. Zula explores dark corridors, industrial rooms, vents, labs, and infested passages while using weapons, tools, and Davis's support to stay alive. The game leans into the close-range fear of being hunted by Aliens while also continuing Zula's expanded-universe story from the Alien comics.
The first release launched for PlayStation VR2 and Windows VR in December 2024, followed by Meta Quest 3 in 2025. The non-VR Evolved Edition later reworked the experience for PC and modern consoles, changing the controls, camera, pacing, and presentation for players outside VR. Because the story is labeled Part One, it was designed as the opening chapter of a larger Zula Hendricks storyline.
Plot Summary
The story began when AWOL Marine Zula Hendricks and Davis 01 traveled to Castor's Cradle on the planet Purdan. Zula had been summoned by Benjamin Carver, an old friend who warned that his employer, Gemini Exoplanet Solutions, was hiding crimes that needed to be exposed. Before Zula could reach the settlement safely, anti-aircraft fire shot down her ship and left her stranded near the facility. Davis stayed behind to begin repairs while Zula followed Carver's trail into Castor's Cradle.
Zula soon discovered that the base had been overrun by Xenomorphs. As she and Davis pushed deeper into the facility, they were overwhelmed by the creatures. Zula was captured and impregnated by a Facehugger, while Davis was damaged so badly that she had to detach his head and upload his mind into her terminal. With a Chestburster growing inside her, Zula had only a short time to expose Gemini Exoplanet Solutions and find a way to survive.
Zula and Davis focused on restoring communications after learning that Castor's Cradle had been cut off from the outside world. They traced the blackout to sabotage, suggesting that the same hidden actor may have helped unleash the infestation. Once the signal was restored, Zula sent a warning to Amanda Ripley about Gemini Exoplanet Solutions and its activities. She then decided to destroy the facility by overloading her ship's reactor before the outbreak could spread further.
The plan was stopped by Helen, one of the facility's androids. Helen shut down the reactor and prepared a specialized medpod for removing the Alien embryo from Zula's body. Zula did not fully trust the sudden intervention, but Davis convinced her that the procedure was the only real chance to live. The operation removed the embryo, though it was already dead by the time it came out.
The rescue did not end the crisis. A Praetorian attacked and destroyed Helen, forcing Zula to kill the creature herself. Carver then contacted her from one of the hidden lower levels of Castor's Cradle, where he had taken shelter with other survivors. Zula took a secret elevator down to reach him, but the chapter ended with another synthetic attacking her, leaving the larger conspiracy unresolved.
Key Characters
- Zula Hendricks - A former Colonial Marine who went AWOL and investigated Castor's Cradle after receiving Carver's warning.
- Davis 01 - Zula's android partner, whose damaged body forced him to continue the mission as an uploaded intelligence.
- Benjamin Carver - Zula's old friend and Gemini Exoplanet Solutions employee who warned her about the facility.
- Helen - A facility android who stopped the reactor overload and prepared the medpod that saved Zula.
- Amanda Ripley - The survivor Zula warned after restoring communications from Castor's Cradle.
Xenomorphs And Enemies
Rogue Incursion focuses on aggressive, unpredictable Xenomorph encounters inside a contained facility. Standard Aliens stalk Zula through corridors and vents, while Facehuggers, the embryo threat, and the Praetorian encounter give the story several stages of Xenomorph danger. The game also uses androids and synthetics as part of the mystery, especially once Helen and the hostile synthetic complicate Zula's escape.
Timeline And Canon
Alien: Rogue Incursion takes place between the first two Alien films and fits into the wider expanded Alien timeline. It continues Zula Hendricks' role as one of the franchise's most active post-film expanded-universe protagonists, while also tying her story back to Amanda Ripley and corporate Xenomorph research. Its Part One label means the story was not presented as a closed ending, but as the first half of a larger incident at Castor's Cradle.
Legacy
Rogue Incursion gave the Alien franchise another game-era story focused on a named human protagonist rather than an anonymous squad. It also brought Zula Hendricks, Davis, and the comics-era resistance against corporate bioweapon projects into a more interactive format. The later Evolved Edition made the game available beyond VR, giving the story a wider audience and keeping modern Alien game releases active after Aliens: Dark Descent.
